Mauricio Barembuem AKA Barem is the DJ and producer from Buenos Aries who has produced music for such esteemed label’s as Richie Hawtin’s M-nus, and the Philadelphia based label, Foundsound.  And he is out guest on this week’s Cadenza Music Source to Cycle.

Since the mid-2000s, Barem has been crafting out unique and textured techno and house music, and has been performing in clubs across the globe on a regular basis.  With forthcoming shows in Switzerland, Austria and London (playing with our own Valentino Kanzyani on April 18th), it’s great that he could take time out to put together these two mixes for us.

Barem has a new EP coming out on Rhythm Cult inon 03.03.15 (Vinyl) and 09.03.15 (Digital) so look out for that!

I just started a new segment on my monthly radio show at Delta FM about special artists  and labels. It's my way of sharing music that I admire and fully respect. 
For the first hour, I picked my favorite producer at the moment, someone I consider to be ahead of our time. Someone that I think should have a lot more recognition for what he gives to electronic music.
In these times where a lot of great music gets lost in a sea of mediocre music, lame hit attempts, and why not hits that don't do anything but fighting in charts, hypes and things that used to belong to other music genres, some artists still remind us what we are here for: Create something new, exciting and fun not just to sell and get popular, but to generate emotions and help the music evolve. My first hour is a mix of my favorite tracks from Stimming and I hope you like them as much as I do! :)

Barem - Delta Club Special Stimming FM90.3 - 06-10-11

We are going to Switzerland (by way of Argentina) for our next podcast to welcome techno artist Barem into the Balance Selections family. Best known for his releases on Richie Hawtin’s M_nus label, the producer has really made a name for himself with his warm, stripped back techno and house productions, a style which he feels encapsulates a feeling more so than an actual genre: “Minimal is not really a sound… it’s just a way of making music. It represents good taste, stylish sounds, the underground, after hours… Whatever native roots you have, whatever music you like or liked in the past, it all fits in there and it’s not dying in my opinion. It’s just arrived at the point where we’ve rediscovered how free and amazing the concept and the reasons behind it are.’’

But as with all good artists, career growth and change is essential to the soul, and last year the producer announced his departure from the M_nus crew to pursue new projects. And he did just that with  the announcement of FUN Recordings, a new label co-founded by Barem which is already 2 releases deep with tracks from Barem, and fellow Argentinean producer and label co-founder, Alex Cabrera.

Having played at some of the biggest global events cites including Detroit Music Festival, Timewarp, Miami, Ibiza and ADE, there really is no doubt that Barem is considered a major player in the global scene – and the Argentinean has delivered a suitably quality mix which should keep listeners coming back for more.

The argentinian artist has pushed his studio’s equipment to reach and outline the sound hues that define his label’s personality joining the vibes of its two first releases. The first reference was produced by the two founders: Barem and Alexis Cabrera. Alexis Cabrera produced the second release and now, as a way of giving this first year’s cercle a complete sense, Barem launches this unique third EP. From now on, expect more and exciting new names!

«Fun 003 spreads a sound at once whimsical and rough that warms house minimalism and reaches its core naturally. An energetic analog tale, looping, electrifying and absorbing that impacts the dance floor and takes it to its most playful expression»  

Blup bursts forth from the first second and keeps its magnetizing pitter-patter until the very last beat. Barem has extended his obsession for creating unique and tremendously sticky bass kicks to a complex vision of percussion. The puzzle is daring but massively rewarding: it flows perfectly, whether you play it when a set kicks off or when it nears its end, and it shines both at a sunset open air party or in a dark, blurry club.

nuF appears like a sleight of hand glancing off your ears and conquering, again, the smartest side of a funny rhythm. Christian Burkhardt remixes nuF as a fun ace and clears the way for further and awaited contributions to Fun Records forthcoming releases.

Fun Records’ fourth release signed by startling producer Neik represents all that Barem and Alexis Cabrera once expected when they settled their label's playground. Because Nicolas Neik's debut can be considered definitely as unique: his three tracks are like three priceless tickets to explore an enhanced electronic music game based on a limitless creativity balanced with a strict self-demand.

Neik's taste and skills increasingly captivated both Fun founders, but he rarely wanted to share his own sounds. Why? Nicolás Neik studio's basis are far away from sharing everything online, his creative strength invigorates massive brainstormings and only outstandingly stops the work in progress finishing a track.

Therefore, Fun004 must be unveiled, and enjoyed, and Mike Shannon’s F9M remix is what grants a last outstanding coup de grâce: ethereal atmosphere, slippery vocals, padded white noise and a feverish bass create an electrifying dialogue with Neik's F9M and the whole EP’s direction.

From EXP to MEV, each Neik's track bends straight minimalist sounds to welcome a new vibrant vision of forward-thinking house. Beats, melodies and rhythm have finally got rid of the 4/4 dancefloor Canon, thanks to MEV we are not going to miss it as assumed.
