Clarity

The word Gymnopaedia derives from the ancient Greek Γυμνοπαιδίαι, composed of the words γυμνός (gymnos, "naked" or "unarmed") and παιδιά "game" from παῖς (pais, "child" or "youth"). The Gymnopaedia, in ancient Sparta, was a yearly celebration during which naked youths displayed their athletic and martial skills through the medium of war dancing.

Based on an old guitar and piano jam of me and a friend. Inspired by Satie's Gymnopédie No.1 (ofc). Thanks Gijs for the piano inspiration.

naked youth

Barmus is a project focusing on the melodic and more warm sound. Influences are genres like Hip-Hop, Jazz, R&B and Funk combined with electronic styles like Trap or House. In the soulful sounding music, you’ll often find instruments like a Rhodes alongside some sampled drums and heavy edited vocals. While trying to explore different sounds, evoking good feelings remains the most important in the music.
