Aside from appearing together as the leads in the movie 'Carry On Screaming!', comedy legend Kenneth Williams and iconic actress Fenella Fielding had a love/hate relationship lasting over several decades.
'Screaming Queens!', a full-cast audio drama from acclaimed comedy historian Robert Ross, takes us from the duo's hit West-End revue together Pieces of Eight (written by Peter Cook), to behind the scenes of the classic and best-loved Carry On film that spoofed Hammer Horror's output, before finishing with a poignant meeting in the final year of Kenneth's life where they debate their enduring legacy and what it means to them.
'Screaming Queens!' is a what-if fantasy. A three-act, two-handed snapshot of a complex, bitchy, and completely unique friendship, seen through the prism of the stages of London's West End and the movie sets of the classic Carry On film franchise.

Back at the end of January, we recorded a live special as part of the Slapstick Festival in Bristol to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Goodies, and countdown the Top 5 episodes as voted by the public. We had planned to put the episode out this week as a fun pick me up in the middle of this lockdown, but then on the weekend we learned of the sad passing of Tim Brooke-Taylor. We had a debate about whether it was still right to put the episode out this week but have decided to do so as a tribute to Tim, and to remember what a wonderful, talented and energetic man he was, even just a few months ago, before COVID-19. We hope it is the right decision.

A response to the strangest of time for everyone in different ways, all sales of Pandemonstrate are going to the Creative Minds campaign by Dorset Mind, helping people stay at home while keeping the charity's 1-2-1 and other support running online and on the phone. While everyone's thoughts are so much with our health workers, battling the effects of Covid19 on front lines of support, I am conscious of the next wave of health problems facing us, as we all try to process a new reality. Knowing a couple of the team in this south coast chapter of Mind, I am keen to support them as they try to help people manage their emotional wellbeing in an incredibly uncertain and challenging period.
