Inspired by the creative spirit of In the Woods festival Ilk give us their own take on the festival, bringing us a mixtape of compositions made from sounds strictly captured at the festival site.

The journey takes us from the building and setup process through to the festival itself taking shape, buzzing with life, and then to it’s eventual packdown and returning the site back to nature.

Amongst these compositions they have captured intimate moments of work discussions and banter that happen along the way, including the odd work song, and the sounds of tools and machinery.

This process blends naturally into the hum of festivities as people arrive on site, singing along to their favourite tunes in the silent disco, the crackling of the bonfire and the buzz of the party.

Then ….. the inevitable aftermath leading to packdown, picking up rubbish and eventually returning the site back to it's natural state. We hear the sounds of bees reclaiming their home as we are brought back to the peaceful sound of streams, birdsong and night owls.

Just to re-iterate - every single sound used in the making of this mixtape comes from a mixture of field recordings and incidental sounds captured at the festival site as it happened through Aug-Sep 2013.
