Welcoming our latest guests to the Leisure Club Mixtape series, our long-time favourite funk-folks Video Age from the land of po-boys, jazz clubs and the melting pot of cultures, New Orleans.

Playing music together for the last decade and longtime friends from their early years coming up in the DIY scene, Ross Farbe (vocals/guitar) and Ray Micarelli (drums) began the project with their debut album in 2016 and have been crafting their signature early 80's synth-pop sound with experimentation and collaboration playing an important role in their magic-making recording process. 

Since catching our attention with their second full-length album Pop Therapy back in 2018, it's safe to say we're delighted to have them join us for a quick mixtape after regular inclusions in our Poolside Etiquette playlist over the years. 

We caught up with the dynamic duo on the blog to chat about life, being back on the road and emerging bands to keep an eye on. Stream the mixtape via our SoundCloud and peep the full interview below.

Cools Records is a lifestyle fuelled by a drug we call music. 

The last three years has seen us been inspired by an array of artists, genres and sounds as we’ve penned the Barney Cools narrative. From perching ourselves poolside to the melodies of Sticky Fingers and Fat Freddy’s Drop to closing some of our wildest nights with vintage electronic anthems from Armand Van Helden and Fatboy Slim, it’s safe to safe we’ve developed quite an appetite for music that makes us feel fulfilled.

West Coast Weekender 2018 was such a treat for me…It was my first appearance at this annual gathering and even though I was only there for one day, it was impactful in that it felt like a Miami WMC rendezvous - in San Diego! Such a pleasure to “hang” with fellow DJs, colleagues and fans…the music was on point and I was truly immersed in the panel I attended…Big THANKS to Oscar P and his team for hosting this memorable event...musically, my set is eclectic as usual going from Nu Disco to Afro House and more...this poolside event took place on Sunday, May 6th...

Since we discovered LA-based duo Neil Frances in 2017 following the release of their Stardust cover which broke the internet and has seemingly since snuck itself into each and every one of our Sunday sessions... we've been praying daily to the disco disciples up above to get them on for a spin. 

Today, we're launching our Leisure Club Mixtape Series with the lads themselves and we couldn't be more chuffed. Since 2017, they've powered through a stack of releases including a dreamy debut EP,  become a global name in indie-electronica and supporting the likes of Jungle and Poolside all whilst cruising around the US festival circuit.
