With just about half of Australia doing the hard yards and locking down, we've snagged multi-instrumentalist and producer Jean Tonique to serve up a schmorgesborg of sun-drenched sounds to get our crew through the stay-home shenanigans going on down under.

Since 2010, Parisian producer formally known as Antoine Roux has been composing his very own unique poolside flavour drawn from influences of 70's funk, hip hop and house that has earned him top spot on the Cools mixtape bucket list for as long as we can remember. 

Fresh off the release of his latest single I Miss New York from his forthcoming 3-track EP with Warner Case dropping on July 30th, we're joined all the way from the city of love for an hour of luscious poolside grooves.

Since the day in 2022 where we partied alongside Allan McConnel and Finn Rees of Close Counters on a balmy summer's day in Naarm/Melbourne's St Kilda, we added them to our mixtape bucket list for a contribution in due time.

If you're not acquainted with their sound already, Close Counters make music for vibrant club dance floors with an expansive catalogue of tunes covering everything from soul, house, broken beat and boogie/disco.

With two albums and numerous original releases that have been featured on BBC Radio, triple j, and iHeart Radio, Al and Finn have gained a cult following of disco descendants. Their ’23 album ‘SOULACOASTA II’ was the Best Electronic Work at Music Victoria Awards last year.

They’ve also achieved the notable honour of an inclusion in the FIFA 23 soundtrack (the final official FIFA™ game) which is the pinnacle and peak of good music recognition, at least for us.

Beach Club Dj Mix 006

Some people gift roses and a love note, others choose chocolates and a poem, but we don't buy into cliche gestures. To woo someone on Valentines Day you're going to need to do better.... it takes creativity to prove why you're better than all the other fish in the sea.

As Ralph Wigham puts it, we 'Choo Choo Chose you'. And as a sign of our affection we're going to serenade you for an hour with a genre of tunes we like to call 'baby makin' music'.

As a proud supporter of Support Act, this series is our platform to connect with our favourite artists and raise awareness for the artists, crew and music workers affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

This week we're joined by the man behind the mammoth musical force Mr Benjamin Plant aka the bands producer, synth-lord and bass guitar-slapper to bring their signature baselines and funk to your next lounge-room boogie. 

Since founding the band out of a love of Roland keyboards and French-house, Miami Horror have gone onto become a prominent fixture within the Australian pop-dance scene with nostalgic classics like Sometimes and Real Slow soundtracking some of our fondest summer shenanigans.
