Manhã de Carnaval" ("Morning of the Carnival ) is a song by Brazilian composer Luiz Bonfá. It first gained recognition as the principal theme in the 1959 film "Black Orpheus" and became one of the first Bossa Nova tunes to gain popularity outside Brazil.  It is considered to be one of the most important Brazilian Jazz/Bossa songs that helped establish the Bossa Nova movement in the late 1950s. Manhã de Carnaval has become a jazz standard in the USA, while it is still performed regularly by a wide variety of musicians around the world in its vocalized version or just as an instrumental one.

Barry Ferrier aka Dr. Baz is a versatile Australian musician, prolific songwriter, and eclectic composer based in Byron Bay, NSW.  His songs are diverse and theatrical. 

Barry appeared as a vocalist in the original production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” & "Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat", was a member of 80s chart toppers “the Ferrets”, opened for Ry Cooder at the Palais Melbourne, toured Australia as band leader and guitarist for the legendary diva Eartha Kitt, and toured Europe & the UK.
He was a recording artist for RCA, appearing on the ABC’s legendary music
show “Countdown” and has opened for leading Australian rock acts such as Split Enz, Cold Chisel, the Divynals, Icehouse, the Black Sorrows, Dragon.
A prolific songwriter and composer Barry has won 7 NCEI “Dolphin” Awards for his song-writing.
