The Days When You Were Mine

Written in 2008, this is the story of a man dealing with a break up by running away to start a new life in the mountains.

It proved to be a very prescient song, as I was 5 years and one relationship away from doing just that!

The Isle of Skye - 2025

I first began writing this song in the thick of lockdown, 2020, but didn't get around to finishing it.

I came across the demo recently and was inspired to get it done.

In listening to this track, I can detect so many disparate influences including Pink Floyd, REO Speedwagon, Tchaikovsky, The Moody Blues, The Righteous Brothers and Procol Harum. Can you hear any others?

I've Heard It All Before

First written in in 2009, and originally put out as an instrumental, the vocal version of this song has never seen the light of day...until now.

I am two days into relearning the Saxophone after a 20 year hiatus, so it is featured here, albeit sparingly!

Why Don't We Call It A Day

Written in 2002, and originally a vocal ballad, I've reimagined this tune as a jazzy instrumental

I wrote Mandrake when I was 16 years old and originally made a demo on my Yamaha MT-100 Four Track recorder which was played by Tommy Vance on Radio 1's 'Friday Rock Show' soon after. I thought it would be fun to re-record it using today's technology.

The song was regularly played live around the Peterborough area by my band 'Silent Cry'.

At the time, my main influences as a guitarist were Ritchie Blackmore, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum and Kee Marcello.

This new version remains relatively faithful to the original arrangement and recording.
