Remix featuring the go-to man for upright bass, David Augustin https://soundcloud.com/ecstasyoffumbling. Well worth checking David's page for some fantastic music by a very talented multi-instrumentalist.
I originally uploaded this on Soundcloud in April 2013 (seems like eons ago, so much has happened) when I was only about 14 weeks new into this.  So I eventually had to come back to this piece of gorgeousness from Megan (who might be about 19 now). The original recording is just Megan and her acoustic guitar, in her bedroom and I imagine this... shitty mobile phone on 'record' lying carelessly on the floor, inside a smelly, lint-laden, balled-up sock, further obstructed from achieving sonic perfection by a can of coke and yesterday's take-away box, both also on the floor. Well, that recording is still up here on this page, and is still beautiful. Have a listen. But I wanted to bring her natural, innocent yet wise and  timeless sounding voice up more in the mix. A bit more clarity. So I've carefully tried to clean it up, probably a better phrase is 'to restore it'. I hope this works - I'm not a fan of over-polishing stuff. It can make music sterile if it's note-perfect and 'technically' perfect. So maybe all I've done is restored a masterpiece. I can say that without conceit because it's not my song - Megan wrote, sang, played and recorded it. And what a poignant and haunting song about the pain of a love lost, by one so young. A piece of art.

I hope those of you who have heard it before like this version too and if you have never heard it before I hope you all enjoy it and, as I've said in the past, can get through the rough sonic quality to see the diamond within.

Toria Garbutt is an English spoken word performer, poet, recording artist and author. Her distinctive voice is regional, northern. She has spent the past 7 years touring with the living legend, John Cooper Clarke and has released two poetry anthologies. This is Toria's first foray into music. She currently lives in West Yorkshire.

The music is by Barry Snaith, recording artist, producer, multi instrumentalist. He's been around a bit, recorded with Chrissie Hynde, supported The Ramones on a past UK tour and recorded with online activist Carl Malamud. Barry currently lives just outside Manchester.
Both are very prolific writers.
They are currently rehearsing for gigs.

After many a ‘heated debate’ between the fantastic Lola Demo and I, we finally got the track we both wanted without shedding  too many tears. I must have gone through a whole box of tissues.
The trials and tribulations were many - Erika’s laptop broke before we even began and I soon learned that a small Greek island isn’t the place for speedy repairs. My Mac then died on me - unsurprising after the beatings I give it. Then we had a few ‘issues’ about the subject matter and my gory artwork (which I’ve since altered in the light of current horrors). Then I wanted to enlist the astounding skills of the (surely) extra-dextered Darren Chilton, much like Eddie Van Halen on Michael Jackson’s Beat It. Turns out he also had no computer (Darren, not Jacko) so we had to liaise via internet cafés in Tokyo. Darren's only brief was to 'make it as fucked up as possible'. Eventually a truly global song was born (Tokyo, Ithaca, Wakefield). 
I’d also like to say that, once computers were revived, Erika and Darren were so quick to provide their stellar contributions, whereas I laboured faaar too long over the mix, which eventually Erika mastered superbly over at Ithaca Manor.
Anyway, here’s the result. I hope you like it. Loved working with them both. Please listen to their music, you won't be disappointed.

Burning embers underwater 
(words by Luciole Langevine)
 
Under the white swirls  and the smooth surface, hermetically closed, frozen in the lake,  such as wireless puppets, posed on mud bed . Staring eyes.  The glossy touch. Long brown algae  and slow motion of the aquatic mass,  viscous cold shroud  enveloping flowage  .
This is where they have failed and sunk,  taking with them their useless weapons.   
When small keys,  the delicate spring will return to earth.  
When the conquering sun will dart  golden rays , its light sweetness, in the delivered water.  When the banks will vibrate,  watering the roots  that the lake will shudder beneath butterflies wings  and its blue mirror will stretch in an astounded O  for diving birds. 
When in its depths  and out of sleep,  the hungry fishes,  scavengers, dark cleaners, lips curled over sharp razors  in a rolling ballet,  undulating fins  and noxious bubbles , will devour all the flesh of the lying bodies.   It will remain of these foolish men  under the sun, victorious sun,  only pale bones, some yellow ivory  and steel reflections.

Recorded in Le Chat Noir jazz-club, in the  Latin Quarter of Paris and 'restored from the original 78s', this fourth taster track from the forthcoming album of classic chansons sees the amazing Luciole Langevine @luciole-langevine taking on Sinatra and tipping him  upside down whilst more guest musicians from around the world pocket his change. If you close your eyes you can hear Breton counting it in and Cocteau, Picasso, Piaf and Josephine Baker chatting in the crowd. Une travail d'amour pour moi - I’m more a curator than a musician on these, the album release date will probably be spring 2017. We'll let you know. Movers & Shakers - SHOOT THE WENDY BIRD

A true story. Someone who lied  to save themselves.  It happens.
I wrote this as pretty much a straight rock track.The title was a bastardisation of Jack Palance's sneering line in the movie 'Shane' just before he cold-heartedly shoots Tory dead in the mud outside Grafton's, then slowly skulks off, smirking.

A work in progress. A collaboration instigated and inspired by my very talented friend, Serge https://soundcloud.com/musicaserj 
The piano, double bass, vibes and strings are Serge (who is actually a great guitarist), these treated guitars (ambient, vibrato, delay, scratching) are my collaboration, or part of it . My other part, an improvised blues-based guitar, will in part or in whole also be on Serge's final mix, eventually uploaded onto his page https://soundcloud.com/musicaserj-ii
