TECHNO | DARK TECHNO | ACID

For a newly emergent producer, Ansome's sound is hugely confident. Inspired by a raw and urban UK techno lineage, his drums are heavyweight, his percussion fierce and his synths full blooded. All in all that makes for music that grabs your attention and drags you along for an enthralling ride. Littered with his own field recordings, it can be variously eerie or boisterous, but its uncompromising stuff of the sort anyone from Perc to Karenn would be proud.

With some vinyl releases this year, like SLAM001 and Penny & Pound, this British producer become more and more populair.

In form Ukrainian producer Yan Cook returns to the Soma ranks, following up his debut release on the label earlier this year by delivering 3 unique and hard hitting tracks soaked with his usual flair and singular aesthetic in the Toxin EP, 

Title track Toxin displays Yan as his most powerful. Thunderous and aggressive, Toxin is relentless Techno of the highest order. Yan keep the momentum flowing with Noisy Neighbour but adds depth with pulsating synth tones running the backbone of the track, glue together by tight percussive elements. Closing out the EP with ZZZ, a more dark and cinematic approach is taken with Yan really working the synth elements and sound design, creating high octane sounds combined with punishing drum workouts.

Following the debut in summer 2019, the second release from the restless duo dust2 takes a harder, but also somewhat more melodic direction, than the initial relentless release. The genre is still “techtrance” - 140 BPM techno, with sharp, clicking kicks and bumping basslines, but the two new tracks have gone down a more layered and complex route. Due Diligence is built around a stabbing synth-lead with a retro vibe somewhat reminiscent of Joey Beltram. The track is slowly building up over 3 minutes until it collapses into a purely chaotic breakdown of noise, only to return even stronger than before. Diversion is dust2’s most melodic track so far, with a hypnotic modular synth sine lead, rolling back and forth between a bouncy bassline and the ever throbbing kicks. “Due Diligence / Diversion” is to be released digitally worldwide on the 20th of february 2020 on Seaworld Records.
