UK DJ/producer SOSA lands on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax this May with a bumping house two-tracker ‘The Wave’. 

Following releases on Cuttin’ Headz, Solid Grooves Raw & Sola, not to mention his own imprint COCO, Liverpool-based SOSA arrives on Jamie Jones’ revered Hottrax imprint with ‘The Wave’, bringing a dose of fast-paced, bass-heavy house music for his debut. 

Title cut ‘The Wave’ sees swung, intricate percussion dance around heavy low-end pressure, introducing hyped vocals and sizzling risers throughout the track for pure dancefloor pandemonium. Flicking between bouncing, syncopated basslines, ‘Warp Speed’ wraps itself around chunky percussion and vocal samples for a thrilling conclusion to a high energy EP. 

With supporters like Alan Fitzpatrick, Skream and the Martinez Brothers as well as love from Danny Howard, Pete Tong and Annie Mac, SOSA is at the vanguard of a new wave of house producers set to dominate in 2021 and beyond.

On our seventh release, Man/ipulate encapsulates Watatsumi’s spirit, the legendary water dragon. Known as the ruler of the seas and god of the oceans, he would control storms and rainfalls, protect its waters and transform into animals and human forms making him one of the most influential creatures in Japanese mythology.

Our sensei Man/ipulate starts with ‘Dimension’ a perfect gem filled with swinging percussions and groovy rhythms, followed by ‘1st Date’, which is definitely to look forward to. On the flip-side comes ‘Watatsumi’, an absolute charm as if it were controlling the sea’s movement from calm to storm. To end things in beauty, ‘Make It Sweat’ literally speaks for itself, a powerful punchy track delivering the dragon’s message from his underwater palace.

We travel back to the early days of proper Tech House during 2003. Picture the scene, in Online Studios, Croydon, London UK and Evasive label boss teams up with his friend Simon Copleston (Iteration X).

Following on from the success of Timecheck by Iteration X, Rob & Simon create this new collaboration to fuse their distinctive production sounds together as one unit under a new moniker 'Rob & Si'. Phantasy approaches it’s landmark hundredth-single release with another impactful single from one of the label’s key artists, James Welsh. Regularly played by producers from Midland to Charlotte De Witte, Welsh’s masterfully dense take on techno and electronica reaches new complexities on ‘Pan’, without ever-sacrificing his singular industrial groove.

The title track is a tunneling electroid roller layered informed by complex conversations seemingly taking place between man, machine, ghostly human speech and a veritable wind tunnel of noise. Perhaps Welsh’s finest connection yet between the blissful and the ruthless, ‘Pan’ demands submission.

On ‘Sink’, Welsh builds yet another perfectly-executed club weapon around an imaginative spoken-word sample, loosening up the tension of it’s more severe partner with a lucid and rhythmic trail of wide-eyed electro.
