Right Now

Long before I learned how to DJ, I spent time making ordered playlists, sequencing tracks together in a way that felt good to me. Much as an artist spends time deciding how to order tracks on an album, a selector chooses tracks in order to tell a story. Or maybe they don’t, it’s really as deep as you wanna make it. That’s the part that’s been fascinating me lately. In each person’s mix, or playlist, or reposts, they’re sharing with you a peek into their experience, their perspective, a small but tangible part of them. 
All this to say, I’ve started a series of mixtapes, Tape Deck Tales, where I’m recording mixtapes onto cassette tape! This one I’ve done both sides for, but in the future I would love to collaborate, whether you DJ or you just wanna pretend you’re on a  Gangsta Grillz mixtape. Email me @ absconded@lielow.studio and we can get it rolling, I’m open to many vibes. 
I’m initially gonna start off doing em monthly but we’ll see. It's been a fun different angle for me, so I hope you guys enjoy! Major shoutouts to my sister @heyolovia , who has come on to help me with the artwork and eventual prints with the series.

Nancy Fraser joins PTO to talk about her new book, 'Cannibal Capitalism: How Our System Is Devouring Democracy, Care, and the Planet—and What We Can Do About It'. In the book, Nancy argues that we need to move away from seeing capitalism solely in economic terms, and instead reckon with how capital is always reliant on cannibalising the non-economic, from the natural environment to providers of care and social reproduction, and from the political sphere to racialised populations subject to brutal expropriation outside of the wage system.
