Ho ho ho, the mystery-shrouded Rrose - named after Marcel Duchamp’s eponymous persona, punches in right on cue for Xmas with an absolute monster of a two-hour jaunt into their exquisitely twisted headspace. Having served up some of the finest techno slabs of the past decade through the likes of Sandwell District, Stroboscopic Artefacts and now their own dedicated imprint, Eaux, Rrose steps in the series with a bonkers mix of dusty techno hustle-and-bustle, neatly alternating sequences of pumping 4x4 aerobatics, searing, noise-adjacent outbursts and eerie melodies to hypnotic effect. A constant balancing act of raw power and haunting score, Rrose’s RYC mix takes us on a deep and fascinating trip into genre-unbound territories, where only abandon and wildness reign supreme. Quelza at Coda I Ratherlost x Pax-Romana ADE 2024

Recorded live as part of Bassiani’s New Year celebrations comes a very special four-hour bout from DJ talent 98dots. From Tbilisi to his chosen home of Brooklyn, Nikoloz Gedevanishvili’s sets are deeply enmeshed with his Georgian roots, slick selections that sprint across emotions and genres. He’s been on this mission since his teenage years, and played at the likes of Bassiani, Basement, The Lot and Mutant Radio (he has a show here), pushing a sound that’s highly charged with political energy and community tailored. These dog whistle rhythms are versatile and packed with layers of sound and percussion that snake along their cosmic route, spanning textbook techno, ambient and more experimental fare. Becoming a keystone in both his local Tbilisi and New York scenes, he’s kept sight of the grassroots magic while playing alongside global names like DJ Nobu, Jane Fitz, Wata Igarashi, DMX Krew and Roman Flügel. This latest instalment is an acid-tinged endurance race, four hours of rampaging techno of a distinctly 98dots stripe, rollercoaster beats of the type Nikoloz does best, marching frequencies to usher in the next half decade.

For the second edition of BASEMENT’s Archives series, we’re sharing this outstanding recording of Nebbieri from the venue’s 6th anniversary party on April 26th, 2025.

Nebbieri is a resident of Bassiani - a club with close ties to BASEMENT - and as such has always shared a special connection with the room. Playing alongside MARRØN and LYDO, Nebbieri delivered a proper journey set. At times, she opens up a portal to spacious, soaring techno, elsewhere submerging the mix in pure filth. The anniversary parties are always standouts, and Nebbieri took the room over the top with this one.
