Heute reisten wir im Intryvinyl nach Jamaika.

Wir blickten zurück auf die Band the Gladiators, welche 1967 in Kingston , der Hauptstadt von Jamaika gegründet wurde. Nach einigen Musiker wechseln veröffentlichten sie 1976 ihr Debut-album Trenchtown Mix Up.

1987 verliess Clinton Fearon the Gladiators und gründete in den USA the Defenders. Nach dem er 5 Jahre mit den Defenders Musik gespiellt hat, startete er seine Solokarriere. Am Freitag dem 22. April spielt er live im Sedel.

In der Groove Infection vom 19. April 2016 war die Glarner Dub- und Reggaeband Hazer Baba nicht nur Interviewgast, sondern hat auch zwei Livesets gespielt. Weil das Ganze im zwischengenutzten Provisorium am Kornmarkt stattfand, waren es für einmal nicht Acoustic-Sets, sondern Livesets mit voller Power und viel Bass!

In der Groove Infection vom 10. Januar 2017 war Martin Zobel (Skype)Interviewgast. Er spielt mit seiner Band Soulrise am 21. Januar 2017 im Treibhaus Luzern an der Groove Infection Reggaenight. Mit dabei die Pedestrians feat. Pablo (Japrazz) und De Luca.

Groove Infection: Martin Zobel im Interview über analoge Aufnahmetechnik und sein Konzert in Luzern

"Experience" is the name of the debut album by the 10-membered (!) reggae band Basement Roots from Lucerne, Switzerland. After countless hours of spending time in the rehearsal room and fine-tuning their sound, the young newcomers became an integral part of the Swiss reggae scene. Thanks to more than a hundred concerts, an EP and now with their first long-play, they are sending out their tribute to the Jamaican 60ies and 70ies.

On "Experience" Basement Roots convinces with the perfect balance between attention to detail and skilful restraint. In collaboration with the German roots reggae singer and producer Martin Zobel, a unique piece of analog Caribbean feeling was captured. The mix of roots reggae, ska, rocksteady and dub as well as the multiple lead vocalists make "Experience" a throughout diverse and colourful record. A mighty horns section, sweetest harmonies, solo parts and vibeful instrumentals round up this timeless "Experience", which you should not miss to check out!

In der Groove Infection vom 11.09.2018 hatten wir die Band Basement Roots zu Gast. Sie erzählten über Ihr neues Album 'Experience' welches am Samstag 15.09. auf dem Seetalplatz in Emmenbrücke getauft wird. Die 10-köpfige Band spielte in halbierter Besetzung ein Live-Set und hatte hörbar viel Spass.
