Ms Thato may be a relative newcomer to the high-profile SA House Music scene, but on Soulful People 2nd Edition CD release, she’s surrounded herself with some veteran talent. At first glance, there aren’t many similarities between Ms Thato and her Music. And no one has ever suggested that you could play Soulful People 2nd Edition album backwards and hear a subliminal message (like “House Music is Life”).

However, for a few brief minutes, the Queen from Johannesburg, Soweto and Legacy Music came together on Soulful People 2nd Edition CD, compiling 12 amazingly soft, deep, Soulful house and Urban Underground music. On their highly acclaimed 12-song independent disc, Soulful People 2nd Edition, the Deejays/Producers feature contemporary interpretations of a half-dozen of Future classic songs.

“Don’t think for a minute that these are cheesy, Music-like cover tunes,” says Ms Thato, who tastefully breathes new life into Soulful People 2nd Edition with peerless singles like “Love Will Conquer” where she features the smooth voice of T-plo, this sing along challengers the myth that Deep & Soulful will never cross-over. “Intombi” being the biggest single and four other hits penned by independent music collectors. Ms Thato’s skillful handling of these nostalgic melodies earned the respect of industry Critics.

Her treatment of these ‘House’ gems has apparently struck a chord with the Boomer crowd. The disc also features Deepconsoul “Move On”, an Appearance from Dj Lavida with the smash hit of “Intombi”. Soulful People 2nd Edition stands out from many house compilations on the market right now, it sure gives a new meaning to “Quality”.
