My name is Ayumi, born in the US and raised in Japan. I've been living in the US for the past 20 years. I've been through many musical phases in my life from Rock to Hip Hop to electronic music. DJing and posting mixes of different genres of electronic music is my hobby. I like to carefully select tracks that would collectively tell a story as a whole and take listeners to an unforgettable journey. My focus is to contribute mixes for multiple channels to meet new people in the community and vibe together. “The Deep Way” is a heartfelt project by Michel Heukrodt that celebrates the love for dub techno, experimental soundscapes, and electronic music in its purest form. The series captures the hypnotic, meditative qualities of dub techno and intertwines them with deep emotional themes such as self-discovery and spiritual transformation. The cool, often otherworldly sound typical of dub techno becomes a central narrative element.

At the core of the series lies the power of electronic sound worlds – especially the unmistakable 4/4 rhythm that shapes the entire genre. This penetrating pulse forms the foundation of the series, carrying listeners on a steady, driving flow through its musical storytelling. It is enhanced by a distinctive electronic kick drum, subtly applied reverbs, echoes, and phasers, as well as recurring patterns that define the signature dub techno vibe.

These effects create not only a deep, immersive soundscape but also reflect the inner journeys of the characters. Floating, distorted textures and vast reverberant spaces generate an atmosphere of detachment and reflection. They invite listeners to dive into the repeating structures of the music and discover new dimensions of the self – far beyond their usual perception.

The warm, often slightly melancholic atmosphere of dub techno is more than a stylistic element in “The Deep Way”: it serves as a narrative layer, amplifying the sense of inner emptiness and the simultaneous pursuit of enlightenment that characterizes the series. The characters of this sonic journey undergo processes of transformation that are not only accompanied but intensified by the electronic music.

“The Deep Way” is therefore not just a series about music – it is a musical and metaphysical journey. A path inviting listeners to question established patterns of perception, discover new perspectives, and develop a deeper connection to themselves and the world around them. The passion for dub techno and experimental soundscapes forms the foundation for an extraordinary journey into the depths of consciousness.

This mix is the first episode of what has now become more than 13 mixes.
