Our unsigned series looks to build a bridge between some under the radar talent and the various industry influencers that keep up with our content. Our goal is to help budding producers, who we handpick, to be able to find exposure and possibly a home for their yet unreleased productions. Instead of us writing about the producers, we’ve decided to get them to introduce themselves, so without further ado here’s the second in our unsigned series:

I’m Johan!
23 years old and just moved to Copenhagen, Denmark. I have been making music since i was around 12, I started out doing Hip-Hop beats and then later came into the electronic stuff. My musically influences is mostly from non-electronic music, I listen to a combination of jazz, funk, disco and rap. This tune feature a bass sample i found on a fusion record, then i started to fool around with a random chord progression and simple laid the drums unquantized down. Lately i have been really into fusion jazz, the more funky side of it and this was my attempt to combine it with house music.

For their second release of 2020, Dirt Crew Recordings again explore the deeper side of electronic music and deep house.  SMBD aka Simbad has been on Dirt Crews wish list for a while and its fills the label with delight that they finally made this happen.  SMBD delivers a full release after his previous contribution to the label on their first ‘Dampé EP’ back in 2019.  After a string of releases on Apron, Freerange and BBE along with his regular show on WWFM, this super selector and respected house veteran needs very little introduction.

These five tracks range from soulful house, to darker break beat and ambient soundscapes. While the title track “Purple Winds” is a deeply beautiful and emotional piece of music, the closer “Nan Madol” is reminiscent of early Detroit.  “Piano Lick” and “Glory” are packed with soul, funk, disco and good times on the dancefloor, while the moody and acid break beat excursion “ – 8 – “, winds deeper and deeper and deeper.

Black Angus Records is proud to present ‘Beautiful Ghost’ an Ep by Brando. Although a newcomer, Brando Calmonte is already known in Berlin and Italy for his rhythmic vigor and energetic dj sets. Starting out as a multi-instrumentalist, he seamlessly made his way into music as an electro-acoustic composer and sound designer. The young Italian artist has already being praised by some of the best in the music scene. The four-track EP vinyl ‘Beautiful Ghost’ illustrates a fusion of raw sounds and gritty old-school grooves which coincides with the romantic vocal melodies that invoke a soulful dimension. The release includes a remix by DJ Soch, known in the scene as ‘Italian Stallion’ and the founder of Black Angus Records.

Born in Mexico City and raised in Brooklyn New York, he has been influenced by a diverse spectrum of hip-hop, jazz, salsa, classical & electronic artists.
In the ever changing world of New York, he took the best of the city's diverse influences and formed his own sound, with releases on labels like, Gemini Wax Records, House Cookin, Blaq Records among others, he was recently featured on Houseum Paris with music from his label Foxfield Recordings, Dbri remains an active DJ & Producer in Mexico now, he is real music lover no Hype!

Artist Biography: 
House music has been around for decades, morphing into the most electric and serene sounds that music has seen in recent memory. Jorginho Joao is one of those artists who continually pushes the boundaries of the genre while doing it with a flair only he can offer. The Munich-based producer/DJ has not only learned the ins and outs of music theory but also self-educated himself on studio design and architecture to fully understand how to control a crowd. Influenced by the house scene of Chicago and Detroit, he has successfully fused these sounds with European techno to craft a raw and unfiltered sound with booming bass and astounding synthesizers. He has been the fuel to the fire for crowds in prominent night clubs. As he now shifts his focus to creating original sounds with German artists to debut on streaming platforms, Jorginho Joao will continue to grow with every new release!
