Coming hot on the heels of his recent release on Future Retro, Basic Rhythm continues his return to his first passion, Drum & Bass. Basic Rhythm started buying Hardcore, Jungle and Drum & Bass back in the early ‘90s, eventually hosting a regular show on Rude FM in the late ‘90s before venturing out into other musical areas in the early 2000s. This single marks a return to the dark brooding menace and punchy breaks that only Drum & Bass does so well.

On the A side is the title track, Dread. A tense brooding affair that opens with lush strings and chopped breaks, evoking the dark theatrical menace of late ‘70s neo-noir cinema, before unleashing tumbling breaks and a chest rattling sub.

Upping the tempo slightly on the B side is And Soon The Darkness. It opens with a dark drone and stepping drums, punctuated with suspenseful strings, before letting loose the breaks and a huge bass line evocative of mid ‘90s Back 2 Basics but with a contemporary approach. This one is a dance floor smasher!

With support from scene stalwarts DJ Storm, Kid Drama, Tim Reaper, DJ Flight and more this 12” is bound to do some damage!

Tracksuit Goth is back once more, bringing two twisted and bass-centric cuts to the imprint for WORSHIP003. Following the love that was shown for his previous release with us we’re also including a bonus digital track with each dubplate.

“VHS” is a heavyweight cut that builds its groove around hefty 808s and distorted vocal hushes. Gunshots break tension built from front-of-mix basslines, tight drums, and anomalous artefacts of speech.

The flip side, "Sirens" occupies the signature space that Tracksuit Goth has created, a unique and bloodthirsty blend of techno rhythms and dubstep-esque bass engineering - uncompromising in creating terror-fuelled, dim-lit atmospheres. Abrasive horns and shrill percussion cut through muddied, stuttered techno kicks, complemented with twisted horror samples.

The digital bonus track “Jennifer’s Solution” is a dark, low slung 2-step cut that follows the desperate, uncomfortable, and deceitful recollections of a horrific murder told through muffled interview samples.

Kicking off 2023 as we mean to go on Pugilist & Tamen step up for the 1st of a flurry of release’s that we have planned for this year, Luke & Alex emerged on the Melbourne scene in 2016 when they moved from NZ/Barcelona respectively and were united through their love for Drum & Bass/Jungle music The prolific pair have put out music on labels such as 3024, Trule, Tempo Core, Repertoire & Run It Red.
This release sees them cover a wide range of styles all set within 160 + BPM  Jungle / D&B framework “Lithium” sets the tone of the EP with frantic Hardcore Drums underlined by the deepest of subbase’s set against dark & brooding soundscapes.  “Myth” takes things a little deeper but still keeps the energy levels high with 4X4 kicks Jungle Tekno style, accompanied by rolling breakbeats & Lush pads.  “Synesthesia” is more dubbed out affair with tape delayed chords, woozing pitch shifted bass notes and razor sharp break edits. To round off the EP we have killer remix from contemporary Jungle dons Dwarde & Tim Reaper who take the title track up a gear for full on breakbeat Jungle Armageddon !  This is pure sonic weaponry of the highest order all 4 tracks guaranteed to test sound systems enjoy!!

Here we are at mix 100 of our series with an exclusive mix from none other than Chicago legend and founding father of the footwork genre, producer and DJ, RP Boo! The originator, the inspiration, and the cornerstone on which the entire genre has been built on.
    RP Boo started making tracks in 1995 inspired by the house music around him in Chicago. By bumping up the tempo of ghetto house he established a new template that lit a fire under an entire generation of dancers and producers. He created numerous unreleased tracks before experiencing his personal breakthrough with 1997's ‘Baby Come On’ – a composition many cite as the first Footwork track (find it on the Planet Mu's ‘Classics Vol 1’).
    RP Boo's essential first album, 2013's ‘Legacy’ caused a storm of acclaim worldwide as people finally started to piece together his true place in Footwork and the powerful legacy of his work as an innovator. In parallel with productions, his always on-point DJ sets have lit up festivals and clubs worldwide and continue to do so to this day, notably leading to him being named one of the ‘100 World’s Best DJs’ by DJ Mag.
    This Friday he releases  ‘Legacy Vol.2’ on Planet Mu, continuing his story. Featuring tracks created between 2002 and 2007, this is a wonderous selection of material, some known, some unknown.
    RP Boo continues to produce and tour around the world, spreading good vibes, and joy everywhere he lands. The enduring success of his music proving that there’s still no one quite like him. He is a living legend whose work has influenced us deeply. The collection of music we have chronicled would not exist with out him. We are so honored to be able to showcase a studio mix by one of our heroes! Get into the sound!
