"Sri Nanak Prakash is a detailed historical account of the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It was written by Mahakavi (great poet) Bhai Santokh Singh Ji in 1824 (AD), and represents one of the most comprehensive and beautifully written accounts of Guru Ji’s life. It is usually associated as a part of the greater text known as Sri Gurpartap Suraj Granth (aka Suraj Prakash) which details the historical accounts of all 10 Guru Sahibs in poetic form. It is an ocean of bliss, knowledge and experience. It is said that if one listen to the history of the lives of all 10 Gurus through these texts with complete devotion and faith, they can reach enlightenment.

The spiritual light of the 10 Guru Sahibs is enshrined within Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and thus the commandments of Gurbani are to be adhered to. From ‘Ik Oa(n)kaar...’ to ‘At(h)arah Das Bis.’ Gurbani is to be accepted as the Guru.
Raagmala was authored by Guru Ji, first Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji got Bhai Gurdas Jee to write an edition of Aad Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji – in which Raagmala is present, it is written in the same ink, on the same quality paper and in the same handwriting as the rest of the Gurbani (this was also confirmed by various Sikh Scholars as recorded in the book titled 'Kartarpuri Bir Dhe Darshan), this edition is now at Sri Kartarpur Sahib (Doaba). Bhai Bano Ji copied that edition, which also includes Raagmala. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Takhat Damdama Sahib got Bhai Mani Singh Ji to be scribe, Guru Ji dictated the whole of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in which Raagmala is present, it is also present in the 4 editions written by Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji. Those that argue the poet Jodh wrote Raagmala in ‘Madavanal Kamkandla’ or that the poet Alam wrote it, in actual fact are mistaken. The poet Jodh wrote ‘Madavanal Kamkandla’ in Sanskrit in the Hijra year 991 (Muslim calendar), which is 1640 Bikrami in which Raagmala is not present. The poet Aalam was one of Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s 52 poets, he lived from 1712 Bikrami to 1774 Bikrami. He wrote the Raagmala according to what he heard spoken in the court of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee. The poet Aalam lived 113 years after the first edition of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee was compiled – how do some argue that he wrote Raagmala 113 years before the first edition? From this it is clear that Guru Sahib wrote Raagmala. Bhai Sahib Bhai Vir Singh Ji in Sri Gur Partap Suraj Granth from page 2128 to page 2133 in detail explains why Raagmala was authored by Guru Ji. If one were to read Giani Sahib Singh’s (Damdama Sahib) detailed discourse about the authenticity of Raagmala no confusion and doubt would be left and one would surely be convinced that Raagmala was written by Guru Ji and that it is Gurbani. There is also a small book called "Raagmala Gurbani Hai", published by Damdami Taksal, which details the spiritual meaning of Raagmala and has arguments for any point that has ever been raised against Raagmala’s authenticity. Furthermore, there is a book called 'Anbhavi Arth' written by Sant Sundar Singh Ji Bhindrawale which gives very in-depth spiritual meaning of Ragmala.

Bhai Samund Singh Rāgī, one of the greatest kīrtanīs of the twentieth century. He performed as a hazūrī rāgī at Sri Nankana Sahib, the auspicious birthplace of Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sahib ji, up until partition after which he settled in East Punjab.

ਸੁਰੀ ਅਰੁ ਆਸੁਰੀ ਅਉ ਪੰਨਗੀ ਜੇ ਹੁਤੀ ਤਹਾ ਧੁਨਿ ਕੇ ਸੁਨਤ ਪੈ ਨ ਰਹੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਜਾਸੁ ਰੀ ॥
Hearing the tune, the young damsels of gods, demons and Nagas are forgetting the consciousness of their bodies
ਕਹੈ ਇਉ ਦਾਸਰੀ ਸੁ ਐਸੀ ਬਾਜੀ ਬਾਸੁਰੀ ਸੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਾਨੇ ਯਾ ਮੈ ਸਭ ਰਾਗ ਕੋ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਰੀ ॥੩੩੨॥
They are all saying that the flute is being played in the manner as if the male and female musical modes are living on all the four sides.332.
