My name is Amita Kala, an unapologetic fat goddess and 3rd generation Gujarati Indian born in South Africa now based in Aotearoa as an Interdisciplinary Tauiwi Artist. As basmami, I channel my creative flows of performance and music selections that are bold, political, and deeply rooted in representation. 🪷🥝🇿🇦🇮🇳🏳️‍🌈  

This mix weaves together sounds from South Africa 🇿🇦, indigenous Aotearoa voices 🇳🇿 and Bollywood samples to dance with my ancestors 🇮🇳 + various speeches that amplify underrepresented voices and perspectives. 🌎 

Whilst it’s not perfect, it captures this moment in time and I hope it resonates, makes you move, and introduces you to new tracks to vibe with! 🌶️🎶
