I started this beat one on a hike with the homie Burchill back BC (before covid) and worked on it in nature over the years. In that time it turned into its own thing, and the vocals just fit perfectly on top of the beat one day while I was messing around. 

This is basically a Single off of my upcoming EP with @DumpsterFireRecs buuuut I obviously can't distribute this with these vocals, soo this edit is just for you folks :P

Lipphead, the production duo composed of veteran producers @blockheadnyc and @eliotlipp, deliver an effortless groove that combines jazz-inspired percussion and dazzling brass instrumentals on their latest track ‘Unisax Romper’.

The second single to be taken from their forthcoming full-length LP ‘From The Back’ – slated for release via Detroit label Young Heavy Souls in July 2023 – ‘Unisax Romper’ highlights the pair’s masterful ability to create a captivating listening experience without taking themselves too seriously. Perfectly capturing their sound, Lipp remarks: 

“‘Unisax Romper’ really packs a lot of instruments into one song. I’m not sure how they managed to fit them all into their studio; a string section, flutes, drum kit, congas, a wild saxophone player, and they even had room leftover for some bass-slappin’. The lonely piano outro really tops it off. This is a hot bowl of funk stew, a crock pot of lipp-smackin’ goodness.”

With their characteristic production prowess, Lipphead has once again pushed the boundaries of electronic music, showcasing their ability to blend genres and create something entirely fresh and exciting. ‘Unisax Romper’ is a testament to their innovative approach to music-making, as they continue to push the envelope with each collaboration.

A rainy day in East Van

Bass Coast Music returns with 12 Days Vol. 4, an annual compilation featuring 13 tracks by festival alumni. Beginning Dec 14th, one track a day will be released culminating in the full album release on Dec 25th.

100% of proceeds from the compilation will be donated to the Nicola Valley Food Bank located in the host town of Bass Coast Festival, Merritt, BC on the shared traditional territories of the Nłeʔkepmx and Syilx.
