After the undoubted success of Mui Mui Records’ (pronounced Moy Moy) first release which presented original music from Bernard that also came complete with rerubs from Silverlining and Harry Wills. With the name for the label being an ode to founder E.Alexander’s daughter and her mixed British Chinese and Scottish upbringing its meaning is derived from the phrase “little girl” in Cantonese. It is clear from speaking with Ewan that a lot of care and attention goes into every facet of the label and it really shows in the music.

Well, Mui Mui are back for round two and again they come correct with the freshest house cuts courtesy of American artist John Manhard. This time around Mui Mui have opted to give their chosen artist the full run of the EP to showcase his sound and the result is four blissful originals that manage to combine a number of influences. Distinguished Berlin duo Cab Drivers line up the 50th release on their esteemed Cabinet Records with a special release featuring both classic and contemporary material, including the deep and captivating house cut 'Backside 50'.

The story behind 'Backside 50' is simple: For their 50th 12" Cab Drivers planned to release a classic track titled 'Zwo Fremde', a dreamy and cosmic anthem from 1994 that was produced before they launched the Cabinet imprint. What they needed was a "backside" to complete the record and the result is a brilliant display of their distinct dancefloor-focused style that's been influential in the underground for decades. 

Cab50 featuring 'Zwo Fremde' and 'Backside 50' is set for release in October.

Premiere: Cab Drivers 'Backside 50'

Parisian artist Point G is set to deliver a new remix compilation across three parts this March, April and May 2019, featuring interpretations from an array of esteemed producers close to him.
DJ Gregory aka Point G has long been a respected figure in house music, releasing music and DJing since the 90’s under various guises, Point G being the more contemporary alias with a focus on a rawer, more stripped- back aesthetic. Here we see the Point G back- catalogue revisited with fresh reworks from some of France’s finest in House and Techno, as well as good friend and Berlin’s queen of House, Beste Modus co-founder Cinthie.
Across the project there’s the vintage sounds of DJ Steaw and Cinthie’s drum-led remixes through to more crunchy, synth-driven takes from D’Julz and Leo Pol sat alongside the airy ethereal, jazz-tinged feels of Hugo LX and Flabaire’s remixes.
Pauline T takes a more direct Techno approach with her take on ‘Blackjack’ via mind being arpeggios and choppy, ever-evolgin drums, DJ Deep opts for a similarly dynamic feel with his solo rework, while the Sergie Rezza remix, an alias of his and Roman Poncet’s, delves into the more abstract courtesy of smoothly unfolding, organic drums, enchanting atmospherics and wandering subs.

Point G ‘Remixed By’ features an all-star cast and every remix choice has payed justice to many of the choice cuts from the Point G back catalogue.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary D’Julz has curated a three-part compilation, gathering fresh cuts from core members of the Bass Culture family for the special edition series.

Bass Culture Records is a house and techno music label started in 2009 by parisian dj/producer D'julz. The label is named after D'julz' 20 years old residency at Rex Club in Paris which became recently the longest running residency at this legendary club.
