This episode of Stardust mix series features Wednesday, a London based DJ who has become a core member of the city's growing trance community.
After her solo debut at SUB:SYSTEM in late 2021, she has been captivating dancefloors with her unique blend of minimal psy, tribal prog, and techno. Earning her a residency at SUB:SYSTEM and performances at respected events in London, Berlin, Yerevan, Lisbon, and Nantes.
Her sets are characterized by their ability to work across various sonic landscapes, exploring the rhythmic and emotional depths of trance and techno while maintaining an ever-playful energy.

"This mix is a live recording from my opening set at UNFOLD last September when there was a takeover from @denandensidecph. I've found the music coming from Copenhagen to be a huge source of inspiration for my sound so it felt really special to be part of that lineup. Given it was a 12 hour party I wanted to set a nice tone for what was to come & decided to play some of the more stripped back, rolling minimal psytrance in my collection which fits perfectly with the stardust sound."

Viennese DJ/Producer Alpha Tracks is best-known as a fleet-footed champion for contemporary neo-trance. Where others to the north of the genre’s beginnings are breathing new life into the musical style, Felix Benedikt holds down the fort in the east, deriving his intrinsic link to its forms from the early millennium record-digging. With releases on imprints like Blue Hour, Ute.Rec., his very own Morbid and newly pressed <AIR WAYS> bristling with scrappy basslines, the shape of his mission is sharp in focus, a revival and reconfiguration of those 90s sounds into something modern and loaded with relevance. Striking parallels with the speed of data in our modern landscape could be made with trance’s newfound acceptance, but for Felix it’s something inherently felt. Logic demands respite, and his palette has changed to suit an equal need for interiority, a slower pace and the psychic realm. Enter Zenaari Mix 017: this latest episode turns down the tempo and strips away the kick of his bellicose basslines for a pure and surrealist patchwork of prophetic sounds. It’s back to the Norwegian woods with Mikkel Rev for Bassiani Podcast 259. Alongside Oprofessionel he moonlights as Omformer, and co-spearheads the Oslo-based UTE collective, famous for offering mystical forest raves, memorable club nights and their take-home recordings via digital/vinyl outlet UTE.REC (and sub-label Translusid). Trance is the main thrust, but an updated and savvy manifestation of it that’s more than suited to 2025, furnishing its breakneck rhythms with the experimental slant of its IDM and ambient forebears. It’s an elevated approach to a known genre, and perhaps at the bleeding edge of its future potential, keeping sound and woodland birthplace tethered crucial to its mission. As well as a number of EPs out on his homespun label, he’s apt to explore the fringes of his sound and export its singular voice across the map: intelligent trance with a strong emotional charge. This latest instalment keeps that promise with Mikkel on top form, an hour of cathartic beats recorded live at Bassiani: supernatural and stylish fare for sylvan nighttime gatherings.

DJ Sodeyama’s been around since the 90s, a Tokyo-based whizz and DJ’s DJ, whose career has offered the type of sound many selectors would envy. It’s incredibly sharp, meandering along its intelligent thread in unexpected and high-minded ways. Since the early noughties he could add producer to his soubriquet too, flexing his minimal muscle with early releases, a steady stream of ensuing ventures further cementing his craft via Korean-based deep techno distributor Artscope, Dynamic Reflection, illegal alien, Daybreak and many more. He’s also explored adjacent genres and ventured into the world of house under his parallel alias The People In Fog. Pretty full plate, but the quality of his sound has suffered nothing for it. His techno is an expert tapestry of interlaced details and lingering moods, injected with raw feeling and undeniable skill. It darts from peak to peak, fusing frequencies riddled with forward-pitched elements and vivid effects, and forges a long-range feeling that abuts the realm of both man and machine. Thick and volatile techno that serves as proof that the genre can keep expanding outwards in fresh and surprising ways. Bassiani Podcast 260 moves the needle further, it's quintessential Sodeyama: vivid climbs and steep descents, warped vocal samples, brave and unbending beats for prime-time raving.
