Excited to share with you my very first set of 2024, recorded live at Ratherlost party at LoFi, Amsterdam on January 1st, 2024. 
It was truly one of the best NY shows I've ever been a part of. The club was completely packed and on fire as I took over the decks following Quelza & Nørbak’s incredible B2B set. My aim was to keep this massive momentum going while leading the floor on a journey to get lost in the music. Hope you can feel this mood and energy from the recording.

Swedish DJ and label head Philippa Pacho began her career in the illegal party scene of Stockholm. As a resident of Under Bron since 2012, she has gone on to become one of the most in-demand DJs, renowned for her legendary marathon sets, razor sharp mixing, and powerful, radiant approach to techno.

About the mix Philippa said: 

“I tried to keep a ’festival in nature’ - theme whilst recording this, less peak moments and more groovy, hypnotic and repetitive/trippy, more leaning to what I would play at a closing set.”

This one’s a firm nod to London and its unique cultural genome. Tasha got her start in drum and bass, with early support from DJ Flight and Storm, regular slots at Renegade Hardware, and a side shift at central London’s now defunct record store BM Soho. That, and her own party-going forays threw a growing fixation with techno into the mix and it’s here at the crossroads of these two influences that Tasha started to find her voice. For four years starting 2009, and now again on a monthly basis since 2018, she’s held down a residency on Rinse FM, and the distinctly homespun feel of the outlet has left a permanent mark on her sound, one that’s intimately tied to both community and the station’s roots as a fledgling pirate station way back when. Equally formative was Shoreditch venue Plastic People, where she took charge of event programming alongside Sigha, a role she followed with the starting of her own solo venture titled ’Neighbourhood’ - a bringing together of artists in her orbit among which figure names like Pangaea, Pariah, Ben Sims, Zenker Brothers and Stenny. It now calls FOLD home, but the name, and you’d be hard pressed to find a better one, has stuck. It also stuck to the label that project spawned in 2016 and all the subsequent releases that kept that vision going. Tasha’s art, like the life it inhabits, is in constant movement. Brisk basslines with a heavy debt to London’s wealth of musical styles, openness of spirit and DIY fervour. Bassiani Podcast 232 is a banger, 70 minutes of contagious rhythmic momentum; kinetic techno with a UK twist and a point of inflection that’s firmly rooted in the city she calls home. This next one comes by way of Olivia Mendez, a gifted DJ and insatiable vinyl lover, vinyl digger, whose groovy and mesmerising, techno emanates libertine energy from every pore. Growing up in France and influenced by Senegalese rhythms, early Detroit and the UK underground (where she cut her teeth for five long years). Her sound bridges cultures and genres, united by a shared affinity for beats, rhythm and the pursuit of a trance-like state. Her work strives to highlight a sonic kinship and broadcast a rendition of it seen through her own personal lens, that is, of someone whose own path has taken her from France and the UK to Germany, where she now lives and runs a tight ship, and frequently plays the usual list of big league venues. From her Berlin base, she’s founded DIG (Dust In Grooves), and co-created its sub-label DIG Curated alongside Chami, born out of a shared passion for uncovering the work of little known artists and preserving their sounds in circular form. She is also the founder of the FLINTA collective KONVENT, dedicated to establishing feminist cultural spaces through in situ music pieces and art interventions. Blending creativity, community, and a celebratory spirit, KONVENT provides enriching experiences while actively challenging patriarchal oppression. Politics, togetherness and music are the lifeblood of Mendez’s work, and her looping and groove-leaning sound the conduit through which her ethic manifests. Bassiani Podcast 239 marks the latest chapter, presenting this mission in its purest form: a two-hour journey weaving current aesthetics with nostalgic imprints. The progressive mix transitions from minimalistic rhythms to hypnotic, spacey, mental and groovy elements, punctuated by dreamy, suspended moments. This carefully paced journey is a condensed version of the type of progression she likes to explore in longer sets.

Helmut Geier’s career in music is just about as long as they come, starting out a DJ freshman back in 1978 and witnessing numerous of the most notable revolutions in sound and politics to have changed the world since. So many of electronic’s foremost names, like cult Berlin record dispensary Hard Wax, or Tresor and E-Werk where he held residencies, or even Limelight in New York, all bear his mark to some degree or other. Then there’s his releases, collaborations and remixes, and forays into the world of fashion, numerous enough they’d take a while to tally. His formula for longevity has been a chameleon-like ability to stay tapped into the zeitgeist and guide its course, International Deejay Gigolo Records has been a permanent conduit for the mission, his early championing of the electroclash genre and work with talents like Ms. Kittin, Laurent Garnier and Vitalic another notable moment in the last half century. One thing’s for certain: DJ Hell’s not planning on going anywhere; his work’s at times anthemic, at times high camp, but constantly pulling from a lifetime of references both past and new and creating something new from the embers. Bassiani Podcast 240 is a very special live recording from Hell’s set at Bassiani’s Time Passages night back on September 27th, a three hour instalment heavy with 80s synthwork, vocoder frequencies and pounding bass. Yet another watermark from a cultural legend.

Taking the helm of our next podcast iteration, Madrid-based DJ and producer Psyk jumps in with a beast of a two-hour jaunt into frantic techno hyperspace. Having dished out some highly magnetic floor wares for the likes of Tresor, Mote Evolver or Modularz and his own imprint, Non Series, Psyk sure knows how to steer crowds into some sort of super-conscious euphoria. Expert provider of big-room ready dynamics and paranoid narratives, Psyk flings us into orbit with his impeccably laid-down assembly of industrial-minded rhythms and murky, oomph-loaded grooves hatching out of the dark like alien eggs from a drifting Nostromo.

Kicking off 2025 in the best company as Tokyo-born, Amsterdam-based don Wata Igarashi takes over with a masterclass in pulsating futuristic techno and widescreen sonics. Through a flurry of top-of-the-range releases for the likes of Dekmantel, Kompakt, Figure and his own imprint, WIP, the Japanese producer has been cementing his position as a true innovator of techno music. His unparalleled knack for crafting big-room-ready tunes that engineer a complex cocktail of cutting-edge elegance, modular intuitivity and hi-impact punch has logically made him a much sought-after talent in the scene. Not departing from that polymathic approach, his RYC mix, recorded at the PURE G event at FINAL Taipei on December 7, treats us to a storm of shape-shifting grooves and brutalist fractals of sound. Beware, high voltage.

Pacto is an EP that unfolds like a sonic ritual, a deep pact between the tangible and the ethereal.
