Leading up to his debut Tresor release Backward Improvement, @ufo95ufo95 has prepared a mix of ultra forward motion and cavernous four to the floor thumps. Starting with tense dissonant chords and sparse hits reverberating in a sci-fi atmosphere, the mix launches us into an hour of hefty techno shuffles, and rebounding rhythms and rumbles. Alongside the unreleased cuts are select tracks from the Sandwell District crew, like ‘Hunting Lodge’ with icy grains flowing between synth stabs while heaving kicks pulsate and implode. “I made this mix on Ableton and added some 909 jams. The major part of the mix contains my unreleased tracks mixed with techno classics from Sandwell District, Silent Servant, Shifted & more. I went through deep, hypnotic, dub and club oriented techno during these 60 minutes.”

Boldly versatile, GiGi FM’s selections have charmed bodies on dancefloors all across the world, such as Berghain, Rural Japan, Draaimolen, Fabric, De School, Primavera, The Bunker New York, and Sustain Release. In the booth her genre-defying spirit is in full effect with techno, bass, breaks and ambient all coming in to play.

Deeply influenced by astrology, philosophy and the cosmos; for GiGi, music is both a tool for expression and introspection. As a multi- hyphenate artist, she continues on her quest to push artistic boundaries and hold space for unique audience experiences. Pianeti Sintetici ('synthetic planets' in Italian) is a new conceptual project by Davide Perrone (Primal Code) that draws inspiration from the factories of Magrathea, a planet in Douglas Adams' classic space opera The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, where artificial planets are manufactured on commission.

“This concept has always fascinated me, and I chose the name to frame a hypothetical future of synthetic worlds, told with sound,' Davide says. 'I like to imagine the howls of creatures inhabiting solar systems outside our own. Rarefied atmospheres, alien sequences, and unfamiliar tonal scales. So, I see Pianeti Sintetici as an open-ended design research project where I can explore these inspirations.”

Pianeti Sintetici already has three stand out releases on the legendary Hypnus records and has played a string of mind bending shows, including this mix, which is a live set from the 2023 edition of Positive Education. MNMT Recordings : Pianeti Sintetici (live) @ Positive Education 2023

Experimental Podcast and event series Zenaari continues to break new ground with this next instalment from Nikolaj Jakobsen (Sugar) and Emil Aastrup’s new alias Flutek. This one’s highly conceptual from start to finish: a collection of in situ recordings from the recent past including test setups from aleatory sessions, tracks that got lost in the never-ending process of tinkering and other bristling frequencies from the misc folder. In sending each other patches for the past few years, they’ve also tweaked them, sent them back and forth, and expanded and reinterpreted them into entirely new sounds. Along the way, they’ve learned from each other and their hardware too, investigating the fringes of these experiments and harvesting what they could in return. Zenaari Mix 011 is the result of this ongoing alliance: shimmering atmospherics, a spray of irregular notes and warped drones that resonate and pioneer a strange new language between man and machine. A left to right hemisphere idiom and bold new direction for this budding collaborative project.
