Closing off this year on a high, we proudly present a fresh Bassic mix from Commercial Suicide boss KLUTE, with a taster of what to expect from him, the label and typical DJ sets. 

Concluding a strong 2014 on Commercial Suicide (with releases from The Invaderz, Calibre, Optiv & BTK and Mindscape), Klute has three new releases in December and a prelude of what's to come. 

With "The Beyond" out now on Drum&BassArena, his remix of Mindscape's "Dust Devil" followed on Commercial Suicide and this week, "Natural Observer" was released on Doc Scott's 'Future Beats Album'.

We are proud to recommence the Bassic mix series in 2015 with the 10th podcast; a joint effort between three of the scene’s most exciting upcoming artists; Gerra & Stone, alongside Visionobi on hosting duties. 

Fresh from a debut Dispatch EP and subsequent releases on Andy C’s RAM and Program, Gerra & Stone have been on a warpath since the end of 2014, with regular support by Friction on BBC Radio 1, a recent guest mix on Mistajam’s 1Xtra show and a free track earning the backing of DJ Mag. 

Long-time hosting partner Visionobi is re-united with the duo for this exclusive mix as he takes things back to his deeper roots ahead of various performances for Ram, Metalheadz, Dispatch and Exit Records events this year.

With 6 albums under his belt, spread across Moving Shadow and Dom & Roland Productions (DRP), he is now finalising his 7th album, set for release in the next year on a major drum & bass label (to be announced).

Despite only releasing his first single 5 years ago Phil has quickly gone onto to gain the respect and recognition from some of the scenes leading figures, and in the process has released on labels such as Soul:R, Commercial Suicide and Samurai Music.

Following on from the massive success of his “Bedouin EP”, which came out late last year on Artificial Intelligence’s Integral Records, Phil is now preparing for his next EP, which will be released on Spearhead Records in the coming months.

Respected highly in the scene and considered a "DJ's DJ", Fierce strongly upholds a quality over quantity approach, embodying the phrase 'true to the craft'; his integrity remaining unblemished. 

Since first appearing on No U-Turn aged 16 (and Prototype & Virus in the late 90s), Fierce has become a quintessential pillar of D&B, paving the way for artists like Break & Cause4Concern on his own label Quarantine. 

Making a very welcome return to the scene in 2014 with a run of impressive singles on Quarantine, his latest single 'Intrinsic / Second Nature' w/ Zero T is out this week, heavily supported by Friction, LTJ Bukem, DJ Hype & Doc Scott.

We’re delighted to present the 16th Bassic mix, this time with drum and bass legend Digital at the controls.

The last couple of years have seen the veteran producer return in an astounding manner, with a plethora of releases to his name in that time. Digital collaborated with Spirit for ‘The Wolf EP’ on Metalheadz, debuted on Dispatch with ‘Red Alert’ and still found time to make appearances on Horizons, Ingredients, V Recordings, Commercial Suicide and many more.

With Phantom Audio’s first release since 2013 out last week, attention is now turning to another of Digital’s imprints in Function (which this year has released the highly sought-after Dub Phizix remix of ‘Deadline’ and the hard-hitting collab with Drumsound & Bassline Smith ‘Bail Out’) where there’s a huge project in the pipeline. Here's a brand new Bassic mix from one of our freshest recruits - Kyrist.

Over the last few years Kyrist has built up a reputation for her trademark style which mainly focuses on the darker and more tech-driven side of drum and bass, and in the process has seen her tunes included in the sets of some of the scenes most respected DJ's.

Labels such as Proximity, Nurtured Beatz, Vandal, Dutty Audio and of course Dispatch have been the foundation of Kyrist's success, and releases on those imprints coupled with her razor sharp mixing skills are the reason why she's so highly rated and heavily tipped as one for the future. The 19th Bassic mix is a 3-hour Survival extravaganza mixed by the man himself.

Exploring Survival’s extensive back catalogue was always going to take a while, with the mix including the very first track he released in 1995 as Akustik Research, material from his own Audio Tactics imprint as well as some of his stand out releases on labels such as Dispatch, Exit, Renegade Hardware, Critical, Quarantine and many more.

Over the last couple of years, the London based producer has been churning out releases with Script under the SCAR alias, but he’s also been behind the scenes hard at work completing solo tunes and is now very close to finalising a new album for Dispatch, set for release in 2017.

Zero T steps up for the latest Bassic mix, a man who’s had an extremely busy couple of years and yet still has much more music on the way.

Recent months have seen Zero T collaborate with Fierce on both Metalheadz and Quarantine as well as remixing Gerra & Stone’s hugely popular ‘Unbreakable’ for the lead track on the duos remix EP. He also ended the agonisingly long wait for the ‘The Ladders’, a collaboration with Alix Perez that forms part of Dispatch’s Dubplate series. The Irishman’s most recent offering however is a 3 track EP unleashed only this week on Horizons Music featuring the vocal talents of Steo.

The mix Zero T has so kindly provided features a batch of fresh material including a couple of tracks from his upcoming third artist album, set to be released on Dispatch at some point in 2017.

Our Bassic mix series heads across the Atlantic, as we proudly present our newest addition to the agency – Patife.
 
The Brazilian ambassador has been spreading D&B in South America since the 90s and welcoming the world to Brazil’s huge talents and unique style with DJ Marky.
 
A Sun & Bass regular, Patife has worked closely with Bryan G's V Recordings over the years and has a deep musical knowledge spanning across soul, bossa nova and samba. 
 
Producing ‘I Will’ with Vangeliez for the title track on DRS’ Soul:R EP in Feb, Patife has plenty on the way; with two tracks on next month’s Sun & Bass ‘Viva Brazil’ compilation, plus collabs with DRS, MC Fats, Cleveland Watkiss and Riya.
 
Patife continues to bring the Brazilian vibes to Europe and beyond and will be UK based from July - early 2018.

Bassic Mix #23 - Patife

We’re delighted to welcome one of the most exciting young producers in drum and bass to The Bassic Agency – Benny L.

A staple of the Audioporn family, Benny L has released 4 solo EPs and a remix EP in quick succession; his most recent release, the ‘Fire In The Sky’ EP, receiving support from Noisia.

Forging a unique sound, his vibe resonates with a genre wide selection of DJs, tastemakers and followers, whilst a stack of forthcoming music means Benny will be enjoying a very bright future.

This summer he’ll have tracks on Randall’s ‘Pieces II’ compilation followed by a coveted Metalheadz Platinum EP; the latter of which is a firm favourite of Goldie’s and is currently on heavy rotation in his sets.

To celebrate this announcement Benny has delivered 40 mins of high-octane, dancefloor drum and bass, crammed full of some of the forthcoming releases mentioned above, as well as current favourites and much loved classics.

Synonymous with quality drum & bass, Ed:it has built up a strong following, with versatile releases landing on labels such as C.I.A., Dispatch and Commercial Suicide.

Now London based and working closely with Friction's Shogun Audio, a label that he dropped two EPs on in 2016, Ed:it is without doubt one to watch. His next EP for Shogun is coming later this year with his debut album following close after.

A veteran amongst the Dubstep ranks, with memorable releases on Tempa and Artikal (his own imprint), J:Kenzo has effortlessly transferred his bass heavy sound to 170 BPM.

With output for the likes of Exit, Cosmic Bridge & 31 Recordings, he is at the forefront of both tempos, building a strong loyal following on his monthly Rinse FM shows, where he explores the full spectrum.

Bassic Mix #30 - Black Barrel

One of the most exciting new Dutch talents, Buunshin, has joined The Bassic Agency roster. 

With a close affinity to local residents and Signal & ABIS, Buunshin announced himself to the world last month with the ‘Presence EP' on their DIVIDID imprint, earning instant support from the likes of Noisia, Mefjus, Phace, Misanthrop and an entry in the Beatport charts at #1 on his debut . 

The release has propelled him into the limelight, with requests quickly lining up, leading to upcoming performances at well established local events, such as Liquicity, Machtig and PRSPCT. 

Following up his superb debut, Buunshin has a remix of Phace & Noisia's seminal 'Micro Organism' coming out on the Neosignal X album, which will be released on 29 May. 

With an incredible 2019 so far, Buunshin is a compelling prospect, with plenty of fire to come, including huge collaborations with The Upbeats, Phace, Billain, Signal & ABIS to name a few.

The Bassic Mix returns and we welcome Zombie Cats to the fold! 

The duo were incredibly prolific last year, developing their sound to encapsulate their deeper influences with the harder styles they are much loved for and this mix is the culmination of their new vision, showcasing the full spectrum of Zombie Cats today. 

In 2019 we saw a DIVIDID EP with Abis, plus releases on labels such as Eatbrain, Program, Viper, Bad Taste and Technique, including further collabs with Akov, Redpill & Vegas (Bad Company). 

With a new strain of 'Zombie Cats' self released singles, their 2020 plans are well underway; returning to Major League & Viper/Bassrush this month, a debut track on Dispatch in April, plus a Program release to follow.
