The majority of most modern day House , Jersey , Electronic and Club music these days is produced in a piece of software called a DAW (digital audio workstation). In the daw you save your track as a project, which has a folder that stores all the audio files within the project, where they're placed, the settings of all the software instruments and all the effects in them.
When two producers want to work together, they either are together in one project studio working on the same machine, trading off controlling the daw with the mouse and keyboard.
When two producers work together remotely, they'll bounce the project folder back and forth. It's a lot easier when both have all the same software, but there are a few ways around it if you don't.
