It’s hard to believe Basso-Relievo is only 28 years old. Yet in just under a decade, the South African rapper, born Mathlatse Stephen Seshibe, has become a rising force in independent hip-hop with his raw talent, soulful artistry, and entrepreneurial spirit. A native of Kempton Park, Gauteng, Basso co-founded the acclaimed independent record label *1619 Records* in 2017 alongside high school friends and childhood collaborators. The label has since become a cornerstone of the Kempton Park music scene, showcasing homegrown talent and fostering a loyal community of fans.
