Review "Girls Alive"
Just a few days away from the conmemoration and annual women's celebration for their rights' equity, from the sky falls the new compilation from Modismo label, entitled "Girls Alive", which draws together music composers and producers of mystical will who explore, amuse and spruce up with a free-download musical offering. It is, indeed, a spectrum of very well achieved and diverse sonorous pieces.
Loaded with defying finesse and neatness these musicians embalm the air via their wavy machinery. There is wisdom behind this musical trip's jolliest passages. And life, a lot of life in the fertile sequences of this work which, all through its eclectic extent, masterfully demonstrates how to balance experimentation and gamble with a sublime and deferential treatment to the ear. Maybe it is an ancestral and female secret the power music has to interconnect us. But the more you plunge in "Girls Alive", the more assured you are that this secret is hidden in good hands.
From and towards the most lulling and deep unto the most stimulating and intriguing that this new release from the netlabel Modismo delivers us we cannot do anything but smile and be thankful for each one of the female presences around us, chiefly when they decide to unite and give strenght, love and music.

M015 V.A. Girls Alive (Podcast)

Hamburg homies Jakobus Siebels and Mense Reents make up the Die Vogel duo. The duo make some of the finest deep tech and phsyc house and have released together almost exclusively on Dj Koze and Marcus Fink’s Pampa records. Their name simply translates as ’the birds’ and the super talent multi-instrumentalists put on one hell of a live show, flying between the trombone, trumpet, flute and clarinet all glued together seamlessly with percussion and techno for good measure (obviously). 

Ahead of their upcoming set at The Social festival, the pair have dug deep for this mix. Putting their heads together and providing a selection that takes you on a  journey through house, techno, psychedelic rock and beyond. Press play!

“Instead of making a classic DJ mix, we rather combined acapellas and pieces that are close to our hearts with sketches of our own music. At our first meeting we listened to some vinyl records and some sessions that we had made a while ago with Alphorns and Steel Drums. We chose about 30 pieces and digitized some of them. Using different genres in the mix wasn't an issue. Mense collected all the material and assembled it on the computer. Part of the podcast are also two songs by some other bands of ours (NRFB and JaKönigJa).
To us, the mix has a nocturnal - urban and even a somewhat cinematic mood. So put on your headphones and leave the house! There's a lot to discover. Enjoy!”

Die Vögel: Music To... Walk By In The City At Night

Collaborations is the new vinyl only series from Unlock Recordings. Made by some of the label’s artists and friends who share a similar vision and a way of making music. Each record will have four tracks from different artists and this first release features Leonel Castillo, Franco Cinelli, Jorge Savoretti and Fosky. Artwork by Argentinian graphic talent Gisela Faure.

We are very happy about this new phase in our label but mostly of being able to work with artists that we admire and respect a lot.

Collaborations es la nueva serie en vinilo de Unlock Recordings. Compuesta por artistas amigos del sello, con los cuales compartimos una visión y una forma de hacer música, cada disco contará con cuatro tracks de diferentes artistas. En esta primera edición participan Leonel Castillo, Franco Cinelli, Jorge Savoretti y Fosky. Además, el arte de tapa de cada disco será una obra de la artista Gisela Faure.

Estamos muy felices de comenzar esta nueva etapa del sello y por sobre todo de contar con artistas que respetamos y admiramos mucho.

El título de esta obra proviene, por un lado, de su carácter onírico, simbólico, por veces confuso y, por otra parte, del proceso de convolución, principal recurso empleado para la creación de los timbres/texturas que atraviesan la música de inicio a fin.
Utilizando un reverb de convolución de forma no ortodoxa, en lugar de impulsos “normales” de ambientes se han cargado sonidos especialmente creados o colectados de diversas fuentes, para así transformar otros sonidos en una intensa búsqueda tímbrica. Como resultado, drones o tramas con distintas respuestas dinámicas y frecuenciales comienzan un lento diálogo, a veces sobreponiéndose y complementándose, otras veces colocados en yuxtaposición.
Progresivamente se van sumando objetos sonoros de diversa procedencia que adensan estas texturas, alcanzando límites que desafían a la percepción. De esta forma, poli-espacios multi-capas emergen de un discurso sobrecargado de informaciones dispares, como una especie de granulación orgánica, sin muchas marcas tecnográficas. Las secciones centrales se desarrollan y son puntuadas por percusiones con contenido grave, en buena parte bombos muestreados de batería acústica y de drum machine. Luego de algunos momentos climáticos de proliferación sonora y de desembocaduras en ataques, la embestida final abre la sección de mayor diversidad gestual y de fuentes, aunque igualmente densa y compleja. Aquí, como base hasta el final, se despliega un drone que puede remitir a una especie de canto monástico remoto y onírico.

Alisú is a producer and graphic designer from Viña del Mar, Chile who started her musical journey when founding her Manziping project back in 1998. 
Alisú released her first solo album on the Chilean imprint Imprar in 2007 and has since gone on to release on labels such as Bottom Forty, Tropic, Yukiyaki, Pueblo Nuevo and her Modismo label.

Miguel Jáuregui A.K.A. BasstK (https://epasonidos.cl/artistas/basstk/), es uno de los fundadores y coordinador del Netlabel epasonidos.cl. At present Miguel continue to coordinate of epa sonidos NetLabel as well as a collaborator, composer, mastering technician for independent artists and labels.
