My name is Chuck Smeeton – media guy, muso, surfer, dad – and finally in my 40s I started doing basic recordings of my original songs. I’m primarily a bass player but try my best at all the other instruments in these tracks!

For 2012 the goal was to write and record at least one song from scratch each month – sometimes it comes easily, sometimes it’s a real challenge, but I love the discipline it creates. And because I enjoyed it so much I've decided to keep the song-a-month project rolling as long as I can.

I've also created a website - www.thecavanproject.com - where I am slowly but surely blogging about my journey in songwriting, home recording, gear ... and other stuff!
