Stephan Muldrow has come forth in his own way to amaze those around him with the music of his soul.  He entered the planet when Hip-Hop, Atari and MTV were just getting beyond idea. Ironically, the music that flows from him goes beyond all three.  

Discovering systems of music on his own terms, this self- taught composer has found his voice by way of the piano; drum machine, and electronic synthesizers. 
Says Stephan, “My first lessons in beat making came from my sister, Georgia in 1998 when she got the Akai MPC 2000XL. She showed me the basics and then I began to create; and create I did without end.”

Born in New York City to two musician parents who relocated to Los Angeles 7 months after his birth, baby Stephan acclimated quickly to the constant music in his home. Most mornings, the sound of a jazz guitarist keeping his chops together playing rudiments to Coltrane’s Giant Steps or Miles Davis’ Milestones would fill the air. Where Papa, Ronald Muldrow, a legendary guitarist and composer in the esteemed Eddie Harris Band, was off to other duties and gigs, his mother would take over on the piano singing nursery rhymes as she would invite both Stephan and baby sister, Georgia Anne, to sing and play along on pots and pans. The accounts of music as a way of life are real in the lives of the Muldrow siblings who have naturally matured into producers. 

Family rhythm bands eventually gave way to a love for video games and sports as Stephan moved through his adolescent years, still surrounded in Jazz music, from his dad, and now, original choral music from his mother. In addition, his taste for Hip -Hop and Soul music, the likes of Naughty by Nature, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Alexander O’Neil and SEAL, increased his musical landscape. 

Stephan began to play the piano at 20 years old and right away, Stephan’s harmonies reminded me of my own, but different… almost like Burt Bacharach, but different,” shares his mother, Rickie Byars Beckwith, a revered composer, singer and Director of Music and Arts at the Agape International Spiritual Center.

Somewhere between “Super Mario Brothers” video games, Hip-Hop, Jazz and the sounds of original music in his home, a composer has arisen. That he is a lover at heart is evident in the music of Stephan Muldrow who rests his heart upon a bed of powerful rhythm. This year, he enters the realms of ambient instrumental music with a sound completely and uniquely his own. 

Someothaship Connect’s 2011 Compilation leads off with a Stephan Muldrow composition titled, “Ceilings.” “Discovery,” a beautiful melodic gem, is featured on “Let My Soul Surrender,” a dynamic new release from Rickie BB.  Plans are in place for a full album to be released this fall. The album is titled, “The Muldrow.”

Feel You, Feel Me

Gaspard Eden is a singer-songwriter, producer and illustrator based in Quebec City, Canada. Earlier in 2023, he founded ULF Recordings with some friends—an analog control room located at the heart of Pantoum studios —where he is currently self-recording his next project, Crooked Lines, a collection of songs set to be released individually over the coming months. This work is marked by Eden’s intensive two-year journey restoring a vintage Tascam 388 tape machine, during which he learned the intricacies of electronics to resurrect the eight-track recorder and capture raw, personal, and experimental material directly to tape.



Eden’s music sits somewhere between happy and sad—a familiar, organic sound that suggests a deep desire for connection. Crooked Lines serves as a creative playground for the artist, embracing daring choices, stripped-down poetry, and imperfect finalities while striving for a human touch in an age of digital depression.

It is a celebration of simplicity—a trap designed by the artist for himself, as true simplicity can prove to be a puzzling process that draws inspiration from its own constraints.
