Coming in fresh from remixing Young Franco's hit 'Fallin' Apart' featuring Denzel Curry & Pell, Melbourne-based duo Close Counters return with two smooth edits in their Double-A Side release 'IN NEED OF LOVE / WHEREVER YOU GO' which will be available exclusively via Bandcamp, with all proceeds from the first month of sales going to Australian charity Support Act.

"'IN NEED OF LOVE / WHEREVER YOU GO' is a two-track care package of soulful dance songs for these tumultuous times.

These two songs are explorations of the human voice as an instrument, using the recordings by Stevie and Lalah as the main focal point of these productions. We have such deep respect for these artists and the healing their music brings, we wanted to give these recordings new life by shifting them into a danceable realm whilst still doing justice to the music in the process. We want to honour the legacy and impact that black music, and particularly gospel and soul has on dance music over the world.

Continuing the art of sampling, these two songs started out as edits but took on a new energy as we added layers of synths, samples and percussion. We hope that the music hits the right places and brings some positivity no matter what your circumstances are!

WHEREVER YOU GO

Sydney jazz house duo Nightset is the collaborative project of Sonny Grin and Kats, their trademark sound blending elements of nu jazz, house, and electronica with wild live improvisation. Quickly marking their ground as one of Australia’s most exciting emerging acts, Alec Brinsmead (Sonny) and Casper Trop (Kats)  are both working session musicians and are proven staples in the current Sydney live music scene.

Nightset’s latest release sees them team up with Chilean / Australian soul singer and guitarist Josué Vilches on ‘Diamond Eyes.’ The track is a buttery smooth, soulful house joint that strikes the right balance between live instrumentation and tasteful electronic production. The effortless RnB tones of Josué’s vocal, sits on top of a soulful house beat resulting in an undeniable feel-good listening experience, while the Original Mix strikes the perfect balance between polished, slick production and organic instrumentation. With memorable melodies and a laidback house feel, this track highlights Josué’s vocal prowess, with his intricate harmonies that float above the silky-smooth dancefloor groove.

The Live was actually recorded in one single take at Bodega Studio’s in Sydney, showcasing these three musicians’ certain talent and combined creative chemistry, and breathing fresh life into the original composition. In contrast, The Dub is the perfect party starter with its extended house grove that is sure to bring the dancers to the floor. Here Josué’s vocal has plenty of time to shine alongside vibrant disco riffs and lashings of playful percussion.

Space For Love / A Path To You is the third chapter of FOXTROTT’s series of musical diptychs, started last Spring.

Through the two new pieces, FOXTROTT reaffirms her distinct sound and creates a sonic universe oozing with warmth, refined production and soulfulness. FOXTROTT pursues her quest to blur the lines between electronic and organic, masculine and feminine.  Space For Love is a radiant, forward-moving declaration of love. “I come to you with nothing but space for love. Here, close to you, growing in a place of enough.” The second piece, A Path To You,  is a highly meditative instrumental track, luminous and entrancing –  a perfect Spring companion.

About the series of diptychs:

With her new series of independently released double-singles, FOXTROTT throws away the rulebook and wants to take us along on her journey. “I love the short form of the diptych in music, where one piece resonates with the other, in a dialogue. It’s a mini-universe of its own. After a few years navigating the music industry with its ups and downs, I wanted to reconnect with spontaneity, ease and the joy of sharing music. By moving away from more rigid structures, I feel a renewed enthusiasm. Honestly, I feel like I am just getting started.” 

About FOXTROTT:

MH Delorme, also known as FOXTROTT, is a producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist born and raised in Montreal. Her genre-defying, unique experimental pop has been making heads turn since the release of her first EP “Shields” in 2013. With her Polaris Music Prize nominated LP “A Taller Us” (2015) and her trilogy “Meditations I-II-III” (2018), both released on esteemed UK imprint One Little Independent Records, Delorme has worked on building a musical universe of her own, pairing intricate, raw yet elegant productions with a strong sense of melody and commanding, soulful vocals. In 2022, she releases the first two iterations of a series of diptychs. The independently released The Motion / Looking For Your Love and Take it Back / Go for Joy, has garnered support from Benji B on his BBC Radio1 show, and tastemakers across the globe (Lefto, Le Mellotron, CBC radio, etc.), as well as significant playlisting support on streaming platforms. In the last years, her work has garnered support from the likes of the BBC 1 & BBC 6 (Lauren Laverne, Annie Mac, Jamz Supernova, Don Letts and more), international press (I.D, Dazed, The Fader, Line of Best Fit, Nowness, etc) and has taken her to perform in London, New York, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo and beyond. 

She has also worked with Redbull Music Academy as a studio mentor, is currently teaching production classes for Women on Ableton Live. In 2021, she participated in BBE Records’s critically acclaimed tribute album to David Bowie, “Modern Love” with her version of “Chant of the ever circling skeletal family”. Over the last few years she has applied her skills as a film composer, scoring multiple short and feature films.She recently won “Best Original Music” at the Canadian Screen Award for her work on “Sugar Daddy” (Dir. Wendy Morgan, 2021). Her most recent scoring work is on the feature film “Mà Sai Gon” by director Khoa Le, premiered at Visions du Réel in April 23. 

Throughout her own releases and in her work as a film composer, producer and collaborator (Ouri, Jean-Michel Blais, Cadenza, Pierre kwenders and more), FOXTROTT flows effortlessly through different musical worlds without ever losing her distinct signature, at once accessible and deeply insular. The answer seems to lie in the way she relates to music: “I try to forget about it all, I aim to hear something I haven’t quite heard before. I am not really interested in copying codes. My relationship with music is inside out rather than outside in.”

Named in direct reference to arguably one of the greatest albums ever created, "Giant Steps" by John Coltrane, "Giant Stops" pays homage to the rich legacy of jazz while pushing the boundaries of the genre with a contemporary twist. The album seamlessly blends jazz, hip-hop, and electronic elements to create a unique sonic landscape that is both nostalgic and modern.

For Minus & MRDolly, "Giant Stops" represents a new chapter in his evolution as a musician, showcasing his growth and commitment to pushing boundaries in his genre-bending style. Taking inspiration from the creative process of Makaya McCraven, the album features dynamic instrumentals backed by a live band, with Minus & MRDolly's signature lyricism and storytelling shining through both the instrumentals and the lended work of guest musician such as Meta_ or Luca Argel. By using this production method the album takes a bold stand for the importance of sampling as an art form hoping to encourage listeners to appreciate the rich history and evolution of hip hop and to recognize the essential role that sampling has played in shaping the genre.

As a nod to his Portuguese roots, "Giant Stops" represents a deeper exploration of the artist's identity and a commitment to looking inward to find creative inspiration. With this album, Minus & MRDolly hopes to inspire others to embrace their own unique perspectives and use them to create art that connects with audiences on a deeply emotional level.

Chicago-based Harold wrote his first releases in the early 90’s with artists like Ron Trent, Terry Hunter, Maurice Joshua and Ron Carroll with songs such as “Ritual Of Love” and Barbara Tucker’s “I Get Lifted”. Throughout the late 90’s he was well known for his songs under his ‘Blak Beat Niks’ alias with production partner K. Fingers on PAN Records, Large Music and his own label Melodious Fonk with “The Sun Will Shine”. The 2000’s saw him move on to further projects with the likes of Slip N Slide, Mark Knight, Peppermint Jam, Glenn Underground, Makin’ Moves and Sean McCabe.

We welcome back Piers Kirwan to Good Vibrations Music, after remixing Harold’s “Into You” in 2023. UK born and bred; Kirwan has since the late 80's, slowly worked his way into the global house music scene. As one half of Stereo Mutants for 8 years, with releases the likes of Defected, Duffnote, Seamless, Open Bar, and Soulfuric. And in more recent times expressing his appreciation for eclectic deeper and dynamic sounds, spanning house and broken beat, with releases on Boogie Café, Dance Regular, and Last Forever Records.
