I do love me some classic Billy Joel!

This was a very quick one. I took a grand total of two hours to do the backing track, record (two takes) and mix it. I admit to a little laziness - most of this is from the second take but there's a couple of bars punched in from the first. The song is a little high for me and I'm not entirely happy with the harmonica patch I used (need to fiddle with the attack for the short notes) but given how quickly I put it together I think it turned out pretty well!

I also tried taking the base off my Yeti and holding it. I think it sounds better and it makes for a nicer performance, but I did have problems with very high levels even with the mic's gain set to minimum. I think on balance it's an improvement, though. It gives me a bit more control.

I recorded this after my audition for the Gondwana Chorale today. Getting to and from the venue on public transport was... an adventure, shall we say... so I needed something to do to relax! The Gondwana Chorale is one of the Gondwana Choirs and auditions nationally each year. If you live in Australia and are into choral singing, you should audition - I totally recommend it! I've sung with them in a few previous seasons and it's always a lot of fun. They have a YouTube channel here:
