Akkord return with their first original music since June 2014’s ‘HTH020’ EP. ‘Obelisk’ is a study in rhythm and frequencies, suspended in space.

On the minimalistic ‘Monolith’, a single element is moulded into a 3-dimensional sound sculpture, an aural illusion of a lead weight that floats away into the ether.

In contrast, ‘Megalith’ has a pulsing gravity, drawing in laser-guided blasts of bass, broadsides of pitched-down jungle, and echoes of distant birdsong and telecommunications as it journeys through the static of space.

Leeds-based @Ziasounds departs from D’n’B past to killer effect on this EP for Twin Turbo.

Void marks a clear departure for the UK producer, who manages a fresh take on big-room tech-house. ‘Recall' nods to the badman bass, vocal cuts and atmosphere of underground legends like Joy O and Boddika, while ‘Fracture’ somehow manages to refine and combine the ferocious tense builds of vintage Proxy, with the club-friendly groove and massive bass of a chugging Dirty Bird record. Crowdpleasers.

Techno journeyman @AlexiDelano turns in an excellent remix of Fracture, making a long overdue return to the Canadian label that released his LP a full 15 years ago. Full circle, dope as ever.

The Pleasure District label returns for the its fifth release, the stable  was previously home to Heart Drive aka dBridge and Kid Drama but the gates have been opened for Fracture and vocalist Lucie La Mode, with one collaboration with the aforementioned Kid Drama. The release opens with Remember The Time Feat Lucie La Mode, the track itself is reminiscent of a soundtrack work by Vangelis whilst La Mode’s vocal adds a warmth to proceedings. The second track is a collab with Kid Drama and marries some very disparate elements in the vein of previous Pleasure District releases, keeping the musical pallette open and yet achieving cohesion at the same time.

Some of the rowdiest drum 'n' bass of the last five years has come courtesy of Austrian producer Mefjus (pictured). 

Tilt Recordings, Mindtech and Disturbed were a few of the labels his earliest work was released on and in 2012 he hooked up with tech-infected d'n'b purveyors Critical Recordings for the first time. That was the cutthroat Enei collaboration 'Crawlers' and he released his debut album, 'Emulation', on the Kasra-founded imprint last year.

Random Movement's ''I Stayed Around'' taken from his 2015 Sleazy Bitch EP on Fokuz received critical acclaim and support by the likes of Technimatic and Spectrasoul fortifying his position as the go to guy for bridging the gap between rough and smooth. With this Lenzman reinterpretation the Dutchman turns the original concept into an energetic roller leaving his signature markings all over. Already one of the essential liquid tracks of 2016!

To complete the release ''Suggestions'' by Anthony Kasper was added. It's most definitely a feel good track with subtle touches, a playful bassline and infectious vocal cuts. Strong sounds coming from this Minneapolis based d&b talent. We look forward hearing more!
