E é neste espírito que a Timbalada também se traduz. Nós somos a alegria, a felicidade, o amor e a vontade de contagiar o mundo inteiro com o som ímpar dos nossos timbaus. "O Amor Supera Tudo" possui a identidade de quem nos escuta e, assim como todas as nossas poesias, ela também foi feita para você!

O Amor Supera Tudo

BATALA is an international music group with samba-reggae style. Their music, that was born in Salvador, Bahia of northeast Brazil, keeps its roots in african traditional percussion instruments and Brazilian samba highlights that allow to participate in all Carnival type events in Brazil.

The group performs this music in four different types of drums producing a powerful dynamic sound that rouses your senses. The intense sound along with the dynamic dance and the costume colours’ feast create an audiovisual experience that is hard to forget. Giba Gonçalves dos Santos, percussion instrument player from Bahia (Olodum, Muzenza, Male Debale, Jimmy Cliff, Tupi Nago and Kaoma) founded the group in Paris in 1997 where he was studying bass composition at Paris Musical Academy. Since then BATALA “spread” to other French cities, Belgium, UK, Spain, Africa, Australia, USA and so on.

In 2010 a new BATALA group was created in Athens, bringing their samba reggae rythms in Greece as well. Nowadays, BATALA count more than 1500 percussion instrument players worldwide and the number keeps growing. 24 bands in 14 countries in total pass the original carnival music and culture to the audience.

Due to the unique spectacle BATALA offer, they have performed in several events, festivals and concerts in Greece and abroad so far. Among the most important, the band performed at the SPECIAL OLYMPICS Closing Ceremony in 2011 at Kallimarmaro with the Greek music band Onirama, “Men of the Year” STATUS Awards, Bahia Carnival in Brazil, Notting Hill Carnival in London and Lavagem de la Madeleine Festival in Paris. The band has also been on stage with famous artists such as Locomondo, Onirama, Petros Kourtis, Miranda Verouli and Expert Medicine.

BATALA’s discography counts four releases so far, with last being recorded in Bahia Brazil before Carnival Opening in February 2012.
