Hello, this is a long overdue. "BACKPRINTS" is a collection of instrumentals originally produced for a friend of mine's project. Most of these beats were put together anywhere between 2018-2020. Originally I'd intended to release this as early as mid-2020, but due to struggles with my mental health and well-being, atop of near-isolation during the lockdown, it was put off time and time again. I figured now's a better time than never to release it, and hope someone finds joy in listening to this stuff.

I may not make a full return ever to be as active in publishing and engaging as I was at one point, but rest assured I'm doing very well and I'm happy where I am in life right now. I still make beats. I still make loops. I still love music through and through. Maybe one day I'll let you listen to some of it, but for now, stay safe. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. So! Story behind this short project: I'd been wanting to make a tribute project to Rav for a while actually. The idea was remixing and putting my spin to every track off of his Hyperkinesis release.. but I don't have the know-how on how you extract the vocals, nor could I really find them on YouTube. What I DID find however, was someone who'd uploaded a pack of acapellas. Feeling inspired, and thinking that I could make a project in the same vein anyway, I made this.

I first came across Rav's music from a friend back in 2012, who said that there was this.. group on Black Chalk that were obsessed with video games, and Yume Nikki, and anime, etc etc, and long story short- I was hooked.

The purpose and intent of this project is to hopefully be a fun nod to some of his work and be a warm token of appreciation for bringing a lot of joy to me through his music.

DUNGEON BEATS is a compilation of beats from different tape ideas I've had and instrumentals put together during a short period where I was experimenting with other potential artist names, hence why you might be hearing a different tag in a few of the tracks.

All in all, you'll be hearing an oddball mixture of sloppy-swing having bumps, video game flips, trap-influenced beats and bat-flavored lo-fi instrumentals.

Hello, old & new listeners.

There’s actually a story behind this track.
Around the time I made this song, I’d recently had to quit my job. I’ve always been an anxious person- prone to anxiety attacks and feeling overwhelmed. My mental health had taken such a toll that I felt absolutely hopeless and unable to operate normally for a long time. But music made me feel at home, it made me happy and kept me afloat around one of the darkest times in my life. To be really cheesy about it, I guess at the time it felt as if music was all I had.

I’m immensely humbled and happy beyond words, that this track’s resonated with so many people around the world. It’s absolutely mindblowing to me when I see comments, messages and uploads on YouTube with people sharing stories and memories directly connected to this song. I thought it’d just be another lofi bump in a sea of awesome songs made by incredibly talented musicians and producers, but I guess that was a happy misconception.
