to grandma's bar

They danced around the sticky floor

they never were they lost on me

My Dad bought me my first guitar
played my fingers till they were raw
bent the strings
made it sound like it could cry and sing

With my friends I had a band
did our first gig in Grandmas bar
we didnt get far
but I thought that night I was gonna be a star

it's tough times in a travellin band
 from town to town 
across the land in a beat up van
but that's the way of life for the music man

Sleeping all day staying up all night
Singin through some bar room fight
I'll duck and dive
singing my heart out just to stay alive

In  Geashill village in King's county
the place we now call Ofally
In a castle lived Lord Digby 
Back before our land was free

A journey began across the sea 
in a Renault AX from gay Paris
The IR120 came to be
In the name of Lord Digby 

Oh how she shone in the morning sun
oh how run she run she run 

When war broke out in 22
The castle was burnt and Digby flew
The Reverend Peacocke fired up the car
He packed his bags he drove it far

The little AX left Geashill
Made its way to the village of Kill
where the venerable Peacocke did tend his flock
he took her to church he took her to shop

Oh how she shone in the morning sun
oh how run she run she run 

After Peacocke's days were done
The Reanult AX was  drove for fun
Dudley Colley the racing man
Tuned her up and sweet she ran 


The ubiquitous car of the vintage run
was Left by Dudley to his son 
A colourful man that was so Jolly
was the wonderful Tony Colley


Oh how she shone in the morning sun

Somewhere in a corner of heaven
there's talk of an AX 1911
St Peter just brought the news 
Colleys car was bought by Noel Hughes


Noel restored her to former glory
and so continues on the story
to where she will go is anyone's guess

BK - A LIFETIME TO KILL

Most of what I post here are demos and ideas and not the finished songs , Hope you enjoy. Bat Kinane comes from Ballyknockan, Co. Wicklow Ireland.  In the past 9 years he released eight albums, five with critical acclaimed band Glyder, a solo album, a project album with "Maggie Simpson" and an album with The Whole Hog Band. His music has been played on BBC, RTE and their equivalent stations in Sweden, Germany and Norway as well as rock shows all over the world. A track was played on the legendary “Nights with Alice Cooper" show which was syndicated all over the world. While in Glyder
he toured all over Europe and opened for international acts like Metallica, Slash, Thin Lizzy and many more. Glyder were a well-respected band in the rock scene in UK and Europe and the albums
were released internationally on SPV(Steamhammer) for Europe and USA and JVC Victor for Asia. In 2010 he released a solo album, “A lifetime to Kill" described as "folk prog" by Hot Press magazine. It featured Johnny Cash's bass player Dave Rorick as well as top Irish musicians
Rob Strong and Pat McManus. It got favourable press and some airplay in Ireland on RTE and regional shows. This year he released a country
and Bluegrass album with The Whole Hog Band album called "Ordinary Days". He recorded and produced the album in his own home studio. It
features some of Ireland's finest bluegrass musicians. It received the award of best debut album at the Leinster Entertainment Awards in
April.

Bat has been finalist in many song writing competitions and this year won the Sean McCarthy Ballad writing competition in Listowel, Co.
