"Baharat" is a mixture of spices common in the middle eastern cuisine. 
It is also the Turkish word for "Spice". 
Beyond that, Baharat it is the name of a band of 3 of Tel-Aviv's finest hipsters mixing the spices of middle-eastern sounds with the vintage vibes of surf music. This spicy EP was recorded at home with minimal equipment, superb musicianship, lots of humility, a tape machine, and no drugs., It is still a hallucination of timeless tunes.. and if you don't think we're objective about it you are definitely right.

A Musical journey that begins in west Africa through Ethiopia and ends in the middle east creates an electrifying psychedelic groove band which takes the listener on a multicultural musical experience of colours and rhythms from around the globe.
The members of the Sandman Project have collaborated in different settings for many years. Now they come together to share their new musical creation and explore their collected sounds and influences. Each member brings a different musical world to this one of a kind encounter, representing unique aspects of Israeli music. The four musicians are talented and respected   artists which took an active part in the Israeli music industry, side by side with many artist in leading productions both nationally and internationally. In the last few years they took part in many showcase festivals as well

Ya Raiyat’ is the product of a traditional Yemeni folk song, dismantled and reformed by El Khat and Yemeni inventor, carpenter and music producer Eyal El Wahab. 
Recorded in Eyal's backstreet studio in Tel Aviv filled with mics, speakers and a lot of junk much of which has been repurposed and turned into instruments of every persuasion. 

Sung in Yemeni Arabic, it features a series of handmade instruments including the self-named 'Kearat', a large steel bowl with a piece of wood, some nails and screws and 6 strings sounding like a Banjo-Bass as well as a fuel plastic container and olive oil containers. 
There’s a Pancello as well, which is played with a bow like a cello made out of a saucepan, broken shelf and rope. 

Khat is the natural plant chewed in Yemen and across the Arabic world. 

'Ya Raiyat' comes from a debut album by El Khat set for release later this year.
