Meet Chris Prevost from PAP Records. PAP Records are advertised as being the judges for Battle of the Titans 2 held at the Franco Center in Lewiston Maine on May 4th. Chris had no knowledge of this arrangement prior to being contacted in this recording.

Since this being posted, Chris has agreed to take a cut from the profits and is now allowing the event to go on without a cease and desist order. The original event page was taken down and a new one was created hastily. PAP records are now backpedaling. Claiming the reason for the original event page being taken offline as an April fools joke. 

As you can easily tell by the line of questioning that Chris is presenting in this recording, Chris is simply trying to size up the situation for his own personal gain. In order to determine how much money is being made behind his back. 

The winner of this event is promised $4500 worth of studio time and a promotional deal through PAP records. Yet no studio is named. The methodology behind this event is simple. All tickets must be sold by the bands themselves. Dangle a carrot of studio time and promised exposure to those bands in return, and walk away with a wad of cash in your pocket after they hustle tickets on your behalf. 

PAP records themselves have 320 likes on facebook. They don't even have proper hosting. PAP records' only online presence is through a reverbnation page. Every single artist associated with PAP is a band coming up, looking for more exposure. Never a band that is already finding success due to their affiliations with PAP.

Always be skeptical when people ask you (as performers) to sell tickets to your friends to see you play. Someone usually walks away with money, and it's never the artists.

By attending and supporting events like these, you are not supporting the artists. You are enabling the lowest of the low in the music industry. People who exploit and prey on vulnerable artists and seek to profit off their hard work.

Boycott events like this and spread the message that predatory tactics are not welcome in our scene.
