Imerso na discotecagem há mais de 25 anos, Tahira se tornou um grande coletor e cavucador musical, com amplitude e experiência sem igual. Seus edits e criações são marcados por referências do passado e presente, com fortes influências brasileiras, africanas e latinas, levando quem escuta para as diversas ambiências que se possa imaginar. Um grande "jukebox" humano. @Tahira é um dos poucos DJs brasileiros a transitar em diferentes cenários musicais.

Sua pesquisa musical e discotecagem já rodou o mundo em eventos como Glastonbury, Montreux Jazz Festival, Boiler Room, Phusion Festival, The Lot Radio, Worldwide FM e muitos outros.

Como produtor, seus trabalhos já ganharam notoriedade de importantes figuras da cultura DJ como Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, François K, Nickodemus e Nightmares On Wax. Tendo também lançado músicas e remixes por selos como Far Out (Londres), Wonder Wheel (New York), Tiffs Joint (Londres), Names You Can Trust (New York), Hot Casa (Paris), Movimientos(Londres) e Mucho Ahora (Auckland).

Sua compilação Levanta Poeira lançada em 2018 foi considerada pela NPR (rádio responsável pelo famoso programa Tiny Desk) como um dos dos relançamentos mais importantes do ano. “This transfixing compilation by São Paulo-based DJ Tahira showcases ancient identifying traits from(among others) the spirit center of Bahia and the verdant Northeast — and then shows how modern artists are recontextualizing them”

even in this summer break, we keep looking for djs around brazil and the world that keep bringing new sounds to present to you.

starting the year with the 25th edition, we are proud to invite a duo that is made up of a brazilian and a danish, who have rio de janeiro and copenhagen running in their veins. long-time curators of brazilian music, Carla and Rasmus Schack form Batukizer, a duo based in Denmark, but with a heart in tupiniquin lands.

Having played in clubs and festivals on several continents from Trondheim to new Delhi to paris, london and são paulo, the BTKZR DJ sets are compromised of hand-picked, infectious dance tunes on vinyl from a collection presenting unique Brazilian sounds from the 1960s to the 1990s. 

The mixtapes have been shared by dedicated musical channels, such as the vinyl factory, nts radio, discogs, le mellotron, gouranga, kiosk radio and music for dreams. BTKZR has shared the stage with brazilian legends such as Jorge Ben, Azymuth, Marcos Valle, Banda Black Rio, Liniker & Os Caramelows and Grammy winner Emicida.

Brazil’s musical heritage is a fountain of endless discovery.
After years of heavy digging, BTKZR brings you new sounds from the past in the shape of DJ sets with outstanding Brazilian songs that you most likely have not heard before.

All the BTKZR tracks are extracted from our collection of Brazilian vinyl records. These were found digging on our numerous travels since the year 2000.

Our DJ sets will bring you soundscape music, afro brazilian, tropicália madness, the emotional depths of samba/bossa plus incredible beats and basslines, haunting vocals and spiritual songs from the South to the North of this great country.

In 2020 we played a few gigs abroad (Norway, Belgium) and toured in Brazil before Corona. The summer was spent touring and DJing extensively in Denmark with more than 20 gigs over the span of the summer.

In 2018 and 2019 BTKZR has Toured in India and Brazil, played Gilles Petersons Worldwide Festival, Mellotron in Paris, NTS Radio, bookings at Spiritland in London, Copenhagen Jazz Festival and much much more.

In 2017 Batukizer has played a score of major Danish Festivals: Roskilde, Stella Polaris, Metropol, Volume Festival. In addition events and major club nights with deep and magnificent music. A German tour, Yuka Club in Tunis, Alma Hotel in Barcelona.

In 2016 Batukizer has played at: Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Roskilde Festival, supporting legendary Azymuth in Copenhagen, warming up for Jorge Ben at Circo Voador in Rio, The Lake Radio, Jolenes in Copenhagen, SommerChill Festival.

In 2015 Batukizer has played in Paris, Neu Club São Paulo, Cph Winterjazz Festival (with Azymuth), The Lake Radio, Roskilde Festival, Søndagsvenner Festival, Distortion Festival, Ya'Ya' Hifi in Rio de Janeiro.
