Gelido in ogni vena" is an aria from a libretto by Pietro Metastasio*. It appears in two distinct operas: "Siroe" and "Farnace". (Farnace: 1927, "Gelido in ogni vena" was set to music by almost every composer in Baroque and beyond. The approaches are very different and interesting to hear. They range from Vinci's approach which is more pleasing than it is gripping to Vivaldi's soul-crushing benchmark of what a baroque aria can be.

The fellow Venetian Giovanni Battista Ferrandini (*1710) has a yet different approach. It's not quite clear when his version was composed, only that it happened before 1758. The dread that befalls Cosroe when he imagines seeing his deceased son whom he (justly) feels he has wronged that makes his blood run cold with fear and guilt, Ferrandini illustrates with fragile diminished jumps and subtle harmonic shifts and chromatics as Cosroe's world is coming apart at the seams, shifting and shaking while he tries to somehow smoothen the cracks and live on. More personal and intimate than Vivaldi's, Ferrandini's interpretation is sublime by its own merit.

*) (this seems more likely even though some sources credit Antonio Maria Lucchini, but it seems that his version didn't contain "Gelido ...")

Previously unreleased: 'Where I May Roam' was one of the first tracks I wrote for 'What Dreams May Come'. I loved the climax of this piece, but as the rest of the record took shape it felt out of place in context. Originally intended to sit in the penultimate spot on the album, it was replaced by 'Awake' and forgotten until today.

Baulta was formed in the 2008-2009 axe in Jyväskylä Finland, by Matti, Tom, Jami and Iiro.The idea was not try create the wheel again, but to play music they liked to listen and play. Music that didn’t hail the power from vocals, but from layers and textures. You could categorize them as post-rock, post-metal, alternative, but in the end it’s the music that speaks for itself.

As the first album was being made, the idea of releasing the music free was discovered amongst the band. The reason for that was, that if nobody would’ve even listened to the music they would have made the music anyways.  The music was and still is a way for the members to survive in this crazy world.

2011 was the year that the world saw the release of their first album: Deeply sorry to interrupt your megalomania. Shortly after the release of the album and some attention from the public they started producing their next album.

With their new bass player Janne they produced and recorded most of the album by themselves during 2012 and in December of ‘12 they released their second album: That’s my house your living in.

From the sessions of 2012 they had 3 songs which they planned to release as a separate EP and in May of 2013 it saw the light of day: Greatest solos of Mr. Bellini Vol. 1
In the fall of 2013 Baulta stepped up into the live-scene and started gigging.

Baulta's latest album, Any Fool Can Regret Yesterday, was released in 2014. The album got a decent amount of exposure around the world, and received major positive reviews from the fans and critics. 

In the past Baulta has been honoured to perform at the 'VIVID. a post-rock festival' (NO, 2016) and the 'dunk!festival' (BE, 2019)

Currently Baulta is Iiro (guitar),Matti (guitar), Esa (drums) and Janne (bass). 

The first single of our forthcoming LP ' Another Second Chance' is released. Vinyl, CD:s, and more will be available for pre-order very soon via Dunk! Records and A Thousand Arms.
