Tu haina, is a simple and sweet tune that I wrote while I was missing my best friend during lockdown, but just couldn't get myself to call her. 
I feel this song will resonate with anyone who is in a long distance friendship, but hates speaking on the phone. 
It is best consumed while drinking chai and staring out of your balcony.

Mahima Dayal aka Bawari Basanti is a New Delhi based artist whose latest release is a single, 'Chalein Kahin'. Chalien Kahin is the first track of Bawari Basanti's debut EP, 'Underwater' featuring Ejaz on the Sarangi & Sean on the Guitar. The creative process of this Indie Folk track began a year back on her Ukelele, the idea being to keep the track minimalistic with Indian Classical & Guitar elements. Mahima's music is uniquely melodic and revolves around ideas of identity, doubt, and dreams of a dystopian theme.

Within a matter of weeks, my life had changed.

And all the pitiful empathy for my ‘apparent failure’ made me feel weaker with each passing day.

Failing a grade when you are almost 12 years old can be quite traumatic.

Our school had a councillor who also went on to tell my parents' I was suffering from some undiagnosed mental disability.At that time, I had no idea of what those words meant.

In recent studies, it has been noted that rates of depression steadily increase

from ages 12 to 15.

Based on retrospective studies of depressed adults and prospective studies of youth, major depression is most likely to emerge during the mid- adolescent years (ages 13–15).

A 2007 article in the Journal of Adolescent Health discovered a direct connection between early teen experiences and mental health.

Overall, young people’s experiences of early secondary school and their relationships at school continue to predict their moods, the substance use they resort to in later years and their likelihood of completing secondary

school.


In a world in which an estimated one- third of teens are on prescription medication, and almost half of those are on psychiatric drugs (ADHD, anti- depressants, antipsychotics, and anti- anxiety), it is important for more parents to realise that school may be a causal factor with respect to their child’s depression.
With layers of my innocence slowly taking a blow each day, I would walk

back into school, now a grade lower.

Reminding myself that math was not my only worst enemy.
I still cannot fully comprehend what I

had felt as a little girl.
That is the thing about feelings; they

stay dormant for years, and then, when no one suspects it, they become a catalyst for some good old tunes.

Basanti is best known for her collaboration with notable artists including Akshay Johar (Mojojojo), Zion Train (Neil Perch), Azhar Anwar (Basanti aur Rahza), Vir Singh Brar (Technoloji),and her French band Spicy Frog.
In her solo set, she explores the deeper, more intuitive side of electronic music and classical vocals.
