Ambiance is a fast rising newcomer who is welcomed back on Mexican label Duro with another fantastic EP that includes remixes from Midnight Magic and Club Duro.

Ambiance is a project from a Nicaraguan artist living in Los Angeles. Surrounded by booty bass and Cuban music while growing up in Miami, he has a love of electro and freestyle. In the past he toured as a saxophone player, and brings all these eccentric qualities to his live shows and fascinating recorded music.

Opener ‘Censurados’ is a charming post-wave body music masterpiece. With lyrics that allude to post-punk’s affinity to politics and somber disappointment, it is a joyful musical arrangement of angsty guitars and cosmic synths married to an industrial disco beat.

Flipping the original, Brooklyn’s Midnight Magic serve up a perfect Italo sounding remix with a squelchy bassline and lively synths that ooze colour.

The brilliant ‘Hombre Araña’ is the next original and has frenetic EBM bass, retro string melodies and roaring, sepulchral voices which bring intensity to the dance floor. The Club Duro mix is a shimmering track with rugged bass and echoing vocals, it’s unusual and absorbing with great effects.

Last of all is a delicious dub mix of ‘Censurados’ that focusses on wet claps and tooting arps which keep on ramping up the energy levels throughout.

This is an EP that brims with post disco invention and excellent analogue sounds.

2017 saw the arrival of Pin Up Club here at the Bordello with a superb three tracker, Friends of the Vortex. Now the Dutch partnership are back. This time a quartet of tracks has been selected to produce The Forever Machine. The bold bars of Friends of the Vortex, the romantic rushes and soundtrack silhouettes are all present with new elements being introduced to further develop a truly unique style. Breathy vocals and melancholy are countered by warm synthlines in the brooding “Valis” before the lonesome “Is There Anybody Out There?” blooms into a daringly bright work of disco dimensions. Opening the flip is the title piece. Smouldering, “The Forever Machine” burns with quivering chords that rise ever skyward on a column of tight rhythms as lyrics spiral ever upward. “A Deepness In The Sky” is a perfect illustration of Pin Up Club’s ability to transform burgeoning sombre sounds into tempered elation, rumbling strings and fragile percussion intermingling for a heady finale. Back in February, @c_a_r aka Chloé Raunet released her second album to huge acclaim from the likes of DJ Mag, Resident Advisor and Trax Magazine. With Raunet taking on the mantle of producer, singer and songwriter, 'PINNED' refined her palette of glimmering electronics and post-punk angles over 11 tracks of hazy, claustrophobic synth pop. 

Chloé has been hard at work on the follow-up ever since, and we’re delighted to be putting out her third album next year. Before we get ahead of ourselves though, there’s a special Xmas treat in the form of the final single to be taken from 'PINNED'. Possibly our favourite track on the album, ‘Flat Out at the Sockhop’ has been one of the highlights of the C.A.R. live show this year, and now it gets the much-deserved video treatment. 

The B-side is a new track, one of C.A.R.’s most desolate synth landscapes. “‘All But…’ was written on a long winter night towards the end of the year”, Chloé explains. “’Tis the season of over-indulgent emotions - counter-festive, brooding & melancholic. Woolly and woven, strings pluck and pull their way through a druggy fabric, all overlaid with dreamy, musing vocals.” 

Even the harshest winter eventually comes to pass, and the ice finally thaws with @manfredas' rather special dancefloor remix of ‘Daughters’ - a perfect aural representation of losing yourself in pulsing colours and beams of light.

Four stunning remixes of Front De Cadeaux by Fabrizio Mammarella are coming up. Comprising of Hugo Sanchez from Rome and DJ Athome from Bruxelles, Front De Cadeux serve up three brand new tracks of 4/4 leaning crackling, static dance-mechanics that will fit straight in to your peak time selection. Touching on tribal house at points and the foggy basements of Berlin, Fabrizio lays down some serious A-grade Acid-chug filled to brim with tension, as the track title suggests. He just has a way with the 303 that very few do.

Themes For Divided Tribes Vol. 2 is the second EP of edits and reworks from @DEKADENZrecords. DEKADENZ is a record label and club night in Jakarta, run by Jonathan Kusuma, Aditya Permana, Ridwan Susanto & Benedict Pardede. The club night has had featured guests such as Dreems, Thomas Von Party, Manfredas, Switchdance, Simple Symmetry and Timothy Clerkin creating a new home for underground techno, leftfield house, new electronic pop and tribal-krautrock. 

This EP opens with Bangkok based @SunjuHargun who has released on leading imprints such as Turbo Recordings amongst others.  Here he has crafted a mutant slow burner that drives you into the abyss. An abyss filled with molecular structures playing the role of a melody trying to escape the world of divided tribes. Sunju Hargun once again fuses the grey area space between the music of the body and mind.

Stockholm’s Tom Tom Disco offer up their first vinyl release and continue to shine with a dazzling new package from Tushen Raï & Cornelius Doctor with remixes from Jonathan Kusuma, Roe Deers, Uninc & Kolomensky and Leonor. From middle eastern psychedelia to Romanian cold wave, tribal EBM or slow industrial techno, Tushen Raï & Cornelius Doctor have a brilliantly diverse sound and open musical minds. They play everywhere from Berlin basements to Palestinian clubs via Peruvian jungles and are newly installed resident at Paris’s Rex club. Their musical adventures continue in real style here. Opener ‘Nana’ is a tropical disco groover, with slow drums but colourful samples and effects that make it feel alive and organic with mind melting leads that take you on a trip. Jonathan Kusuma is a leader of the underground music scene in Jakarta, Indonesia and signed to I’M A CLICHÉ, Love Is On The Rock and Optimo music. His rugged remix is built on dirty bass rumbles with stark hits driving it along late into the night. Tushen Raï & Cornelius Doctor then offer ‘Spell On You’, a brilliantly unhinged track with wonky grooves and bass, popping melodies and colourful pads that with light up any set. This one gets remixes by Roe Deer, a key name on the scene who hails from Latvian and here layers in freaky spoken words, chops up the beats and ups the playfulness to make for a superb weird disco cut. Two digital bonus tracks include a remix from Russian duo and ИДА label bosses Uninc & Kolomensky plus Leonor, a Mexican artist living in France and close friend of Tushen Raï & Cornelius Doctor, and both take the original in dark and absorbing new directions. This is a wildly diverse and standout package of inventive club sounds from all involved.

Calypso Records return with a VA release from Israeli producers Niv Ast, Rina, Naduve and Middle Sky Boom entitled ‘Tel Aviv Flavors’.
Niv Ast’s ‘Rainey Heart’ kicks off proceedings with chugging, organic percussion balanced with humming reverberations and tripped-out modulations before Rina deploys rattling drums, enticing modulations and cosmic synth shoots naturally taking the focus in ‘Peppermint Bouquet’.

Lumière Noire’s 30th release, the Esta Noche EP, brings together Italian-born, Mexico-based artist Rodion, a classically trained pianist known for his productions on Gomma, Eskimo and Roccodis co among others and Chilean artist Alejandro Paz of Coméme and Huntleys & Palmers fame, who is also a classically trained musician. The two artists met in Ciudad de México and quickly bonded over their similar backgrounds in classical music and their shared passion for harmony as well as a love for romantic music, no doubt due to the “latin roots” uniting Italy and Latin America.

The Esta Noche EP features three songs which are much more than mere tracks, with a distinctive Latinx feel and unapologetic new wave influences, accompanied by a phenomenal remix by the brilliant Fabrizio Mammarella from Italy.

Opening the EP with a nocturnal field recording shrouding the track in a dark haze, Esta Noche features an understated bassline with an analog feel, catchy stabs and a dance-inducing rhythmic section. As the song develops and it soon becomes evident that its new wave indebted mise en scène and dramatic arrangements set it apart from run of the mill productions.

Featuring the man behind EMET Records, a known purveyor of outstanding remixes, Esta Noche’s remix by Fabrizio Mammarella is an absolute belter, clocking at 110 BPM. With FM synths, pitched samples, elegant pads, melodic squeals, and a heavy, hard-hitting arpeggiated bassline, the spirit of late 80s EBM reigns supreme in this rugged and ruthless chugger, hypnotic and almost disorienting in its repetition. This remix is a reminder that you don’t need high tempos to yield maximal results on the dancefloor.

At 101 BPM, Una Vez Mas is a plodding anthem standing out with its gorgeous chord progressions, reminiscent of Shep Pettibone's cult remix for Depeche Mode. Full of feeling and emotion this is not a sleepy downtempo affair but rather a slice of heartfelt and yearning Latinx crooning with a proper verse, chorus and breakdown structure. Perfectly fit for darkly lit dancefloors.

Closing the EP, Dime Que No is a different kind of Spanish-language new wave-influenced number, with plenty of feels. On one hand, melodic elements including an analog bass synth, pad chords, and subtle stabs support the tune's heartfelt vocals, and on the other, dissonant percussive and melodic elements act as a counterpoint. The way these different elements coalesce gives a feeling to the song that is both melancholic and psychedelic, with both producers letting sensitivity and a certain kind of fragility slip through the cracks on this haunting closer.

Scottish artist BTCOP aka Richard Chisholm joins Roam Recordings with two synth laden original tracks to form the Left Without Logic EP. The release is backed by remixes from Roam alumnus Moisees and Pino. Moisees pumps up the tempo of the title track into maintime territory while Pino smooths the edges and pushes it into a nice heady groove.
