Adrift

Save State: Memory Leak is the second album in Baychimo’s Save State series, an ongoing exploration of music inspired by the worlds and sound design of retro video game consoles such as the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Dreamcast, and Nintendo 64.

With Memory Leak, Baychimo delves deeper into the early-2000s aesthetic of demo discs and startup screens. Those mysterious, half-forgotten soundscapes that lived between menus and game previews in yesterdays polygon worlds. Moving beyond the jungle and breakbeat focus of the first Save State release, this album ventures into new sonic territory, blending atmospheric drum & bass, trance, acid, lo-fi ambient, and other retro styles.

The result is an album that feels like rediscovering a lost folder of game music from games like Soul Reaver, Ape Escape, Mega Man, Tekken Tag Tournament, Spyro The Dragon, Galerians, Oddworld, Tomb Raider lll, Wipeout, Ridge Racer and much more. A reflection of an era when gaming soundtracks felt surreal and other-worldly.
