Quiescene-Breaking Shadows is a commissioned piece i composed and recorded for the "Breaking Shadows" experimental/contemporary ice dance piece by Jennifer Wester, that premiered @Soluna Festival 2018 in Dallas Texas. 

The piece is composed around the concept of the dance, the transition of the human condition and the exploration of movement. As such the composition moves through several conceptual phases. Quiescene-Breaking Shadows

Mute is an audiovisual installation piece made by Baz Laarakkers and Jochem Knoef. The piece was commissioned for a performance in a old cold war bunker, in the centre of the Dutch city of Leeuwarden. In the daily bombardement of information, fake news en opinions, the bunker was turned into a new form of refuge. Through musical improvisation, simplification and stillness Baz and Jochem created a sound tailored to inward reflection and concentration.

Originally a conservatory educated musician holding a bachelor's degree in music, Baz has always seen instruments and playing techniques as a means to an end, rather than than the end itself. This has resulted in a contemporary playing style and a preference for working with a combination of techniques, ranging from field recordings, orchestrated instruments, chance and an ability to work with different sonic textures in which concept takes center stage.
