We go through things in life and find coping mechanisms to defeat or deflect reality. It can be blissful and it can be harmful, and that’s why I wrote this song, because it’s more than music. It’s understanding that we’re evolving or stagnant; change doesn’t come from lack of movement. 

To achieve great feats, you must first overcome great hurdles, and only then will you understand the value and responsibility that comes with the great feats that you desire. At a point in life not too long ago escapism was my mode of operation, where I avoided feeling anything that made me think too deeply. I didn’t want to understand the pain, I just wanted to ignore it, so I started smoking heavily and luckily found music shortly after. 

The discipline and responsibility that I was taught from music is unparalleled - but more importantly the self-reflective and introspective, more enlightened view on life and myself that I gained from it is what I can say I’m truly grateful for. This type of song doesn’t exist without being vulnerable and raw with oneself - to be able to make a “dope” song out of it and make it something sonically and ironically cool to smoke to, is the whole dichotomy bending conundrum in itself. Because I’m expressing smoking to balance out my lows, while rapping over a neo hip-hop smokeresque beat to smoke to, yet using the song as a catalyst for awareness on depressive habits and substance dependence in our community. 


Music was always my paint, and the bigger picture is always life and love. I hope y’all like this one.
