This is my Techno Bootleg of P J Harvey's "Down By The Water.' The original track was released in Feb 1995.  It's always been one of my favourites so I thought I'd make a techno version of it that I could play in my DJ sets and radio shows.

This song came from watching lies stop being accidents and start being a strategy. I didn’t want to argue them, debate them, or fact-check them in real time — I wanted to count them. To sit in the repetition. To feel how exhausting and dangerous it is when a president treats lying like a governing tool instead of a failure.

Lies as Policy is a slow burn. It starts quiet, almost controlled, because that’s how this kind of damage works — calmly, steadily, over and over again. The lies don’t just stay rhetorical. They warp markets, damage diplomacy, divide people, and erode trust until truth itself feels optional.

This song is about that moment when you realize this isn’t normal politics, this isn’t chaos for chaos’s sake — it’s institutional decay driven by one person’s contempt for reality. It’s anger, disbelief, and grief wrapped in restraint, building until it finally breaks.

I wrote this because truth still matters. And because silence, at this point, feels like complicity.
