Cartridge grain is a project created by Emanuele Specchia and Roberto Ficosecco. 

The project is rooted in original sound experimentations, created with the turntable, through the use of recycled materials, generating essential rhythms rich in noise and from the use of concrete samples, processed through granular synthesis algorithms, to generate sound spaces and environmental textures. 

Our music is a timeless dialogue made of sounds and silences, moments of stasis and processes of accumulation, capable of giving life to particularly organic soundscapes with a strong emotional component.

California-based r beny appeared on my radar late last year, with his beautifully crafted opus fashioned from modular and hardware synthesizers entitled cascade symmetry. Kicking of 2018, now on Dauw label from Ghent (Belgium), this mysterious composer returns with a cassette (and digital) album, titled saudade, which is now available for pre-order. The sparkling synth bits are back, shimmering in a sunlight of the San Jose beaches, bathed in light winds of tape hiss and lo-fi textural treatments. “Saudade” is a Portuguese word, referencing to a melancholic state of mind, and its loose translation perfectly captures the mood of longing for someone with a repressed knowledge that they may never return. The opening track, “fernwood”, which we are proud to premiere for you today, is a beautiful and fragile prelude to an emotional journey.

mf BB was born when I found myself alone to experiment with music. I started to create mixes before going to my own composition. The influence of Nicolas Jaar and his label, Other People, has probably directed my music towards a slower techno. I remain passionate about minimal techno and deep tech house and I enjoy mixing both of them.
My journey in the music world took a different path when the label Tonal offered me to work with them. This new open door allowed me to work with extraordinary artists such as Thales Boutroumlis, Landhouse, Daniel Steinfeld, The Vold or Zoi. 
I have the chance to be surrounded by musician friends with whom I can work on the Ableton Live software. This tool is essential for my production and it also allows me to work with people from all over the world and to feel a connection in a way. 
In my mind, music is a synonym of spirituality. I look for ways to spiritually rise to a form of meditation that can lead to a feeling of full consciousness. To quote Bashar I would say that
we enter a new era where being connected "to the reality that excites us the most" become possible.
