Doc Daneeka - Walk On In feat. Ratcatcher

This is a fun house record I wrote with my friend Cosmo Baker. We had the honour of sampling from Jeanette 'Lady' Day's classic "Come Let Me Love You". This year we have reached our long-term goal as a label which was to expand our releases into the wax department. We feel like we’ve done a good job bringing upcoming and original local talent to the surface so far and it is only fitting that our first vinyl release is done by the Icelandic duo https://soundcloud.com/davidhjalti. The duo has been busy with the production since their arrival from Manchester and have played a number of great live sets underlining their skills as producers. We feel that this release is the high standard we set ourselves before going vinyl and that this is just a small first step in a fruitful beginning for the producers David & Hjalti. The release features four excellent tracks which showcases terrific sampling work.

Self-defined as a 360° label, management, publishing and branding solution for artists - The Enigma Corporation are a visionary collective aiming to prioritise - above all else - the quality and creativity of their artists. As a label, the London based group have so far released 2 EPs comprised of music from the likes of Mak & Pasteman, Twin Pines, Tulpa and Feiertag.  
 Already, the output of The Enigma Corporation has been chameleonic in spanning Pop, Bass and House Music and the third release in the catalogue courtesy of Austrian duo Ogris Debris sees a further facet added to their sound pallette.  
 With previous releases on Compost, Estrela and Affine, Ogris Debris are famed for their loopy, contorted dance music. Their latest offering sees them slot neatly in with The Enigma Corporation’s ethos and is a balmy single that fans old and new will relish -  it also comes backed up with 2 stellar remixes from Adesse Versions and Vienna based artist Moony Me.  
 The original mix kicks things off with swooning vocals and bright, jubilant synth tones. The Toy Tonics affiliate Adesse Versions then comes off the back of a propulsive 2016 with his take on Lazer Gun. Steel drum tones rattle above tumbling drums and delayed vocal snips. Then Moony Me closes things up with a loose-limbed and Jazz-suffused remix that recalls the work of the likes of Henry Wu and Max Graef and caps off a fine addition to The Enigma Corporation catalogue.

FINA Records was established in 2011, originally as an offshoot for Ralph Lawson's 2020 Vision label. Three years into that tenure, the partnership ended with both parties looking to focus on their own imprints full time. The identity that FINA has crafted for itself is one that's hard to put a finger on, as their releases encompass a fairly wide range. Not pigeonholing themselves into one style they do manage to have a common factor connecting their music and that is strong melodic undertones. Whether it's a fairly downtempo tune or a more straightforward house jam, there is always an inherently musical nature to their output.

Saine (soundcloud), a Helsinki-based producer who has somehow managed to fly (somewhat) under the radar for years, even with his consistent quality, is a perfect fit for the aforementioned unquantifiable character that FINA has established for itself. His loose and smokey, organic sound filled with obscure samples has landed him releases on some fantastic record labels, such as an EP on the now discontinued Sleazy Beats Black Ops and an excellent mini-LP on Fools & Fables Recordings. The Finnish musician's latest is called "Mint EP" and it features three stellar cuts.

Today's premiere and the A1 'Technique' doesn't stray from what we've come to expect from Saine. Muted keys set the tone as a looped guitar rhythm and understated bass form the foundation of the groove. Crisp yet slightly hazy drums are in support with shaker patterns fluttering throughout. A second guitar sample plays call and response with a held vocal note while a male voice croons an unintelligible phrase. Sampled rhodes-like bleeps doodle throughout the first half when the vocals aren't present, taking centre stage during the mini-break. The various instruments and samples are elegantly filtered in and out while oscillating atmospheric noises help create a sense of motion. The Finnish sampling maestro is once again able to bring forth another must-have record and the good news is that it will be released in just a couple of days!
