BEYA- Ptown

Wahine is a native Angeleno, residing in Atlanta since 2017. Since she began DJing in 2004, she has played the music that appeals to her as a dancer while transporting her audience to another space and time: stompy beats with funky basslines, soulful vocals with emotive melodies, world music influences, and cinematic flair.

She’s played LA’s top-rated clubs (Avalon, Vanguard, King King), while holding residencies across the city: daytime beach spot, Dragon Bar in Hermosa Beach, the lounge at The Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey, and after hours at Joseph’s in Hollywood. Each venue allowed her to express the diversity of her sound: breaks, disco, house, lounge and world music.

Wahine makes her international debut at Defected Croatia in August 2019 where she looks forward to connecting with the global house community through her brand of unabashedly joyful dance music, punctuated with a message of love and unity.

Hello Friends!
Thank you so much for having me on the Deep End! I hope you enjoy my freshest mix, THE DEEP STATE. My sets are never planned. Except for the bookends (the "death" of HAL 9000 in 2001: Space Odyssey), this was a fun, freeform set, as my profession in the late late night crowds allows me to. :) I like to paint a narrative arc in my sets, cinematic and saturated with color. I thought of San Diego when making this set; mixing sounds reminiscent of music I was raised on here, a buoyant blend of laser synth, house, Italo, nu-disco and even goth industrial. Check out my soundcloud for more eclectic dance sets.

The Prey, based in Portland OR, is known mostly for deep and minimal grooves, with occasional forays into disco and 90s house. By evoking vulnerable animals that form tight-knit communities to defend against predators, his moniker serves as a metaphor for collective strength and resilience.
